TO ABBEY HILL ROUNDABOUT,
BUCKINGHAMSHIRE) (TEMPORARY
RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited(a) has made an Order on the A5 Trunk Road in the City of Milton Keynes in the Counties of Buckinghamshire and

Northamptonshire to enable carriageway repairs and resurfacing to be carried out in safety.

The works will take place overnight (8pm to 6am) and are expected to last for approximately 7 weeks starting on, or after, Monday 6 January 2025.

The effect of the order on the A5 between

Old Stratford Roundabout and Abbey Hill Roundabout, including the northbound entry and southbound exit slip roads at Abbey Hill

Roundabout will be to impose –

1.   for 24 hours daily for the duration of the works –

1.1 a  temporary speed limit of 50 miles per hour or 40 miles per hour,

1.2 c losure of all lay-bys adjacent to the lengths of closed carriageway, and

2.   Close, overnight, the northbound and southbound carriageways while the works are taking place.

During the closures northbound traffic will be diverted at Portway Roundabout via Portway, Watling Street, Queen Eleanor Street, London Road and Towcester Rd to re-join the A5 at Old Stratford Roundabout: vice-versa for southbound traffic.

The temporary speed limits (which will not apply to emergency service or special forces vehicles), closures (which will not apply to emergency services or works vehicles) and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

The Order will come into force on 6 January 2025 and may continue in force until the works detailed above have been completed, or for a maximum duration of eighteen months whichever is the earlier.
