What is happening?
THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, BOROUGH OF SWALE)
(WAITING RESTRICTIONS AND STREET PARKING PLACES)
(CONSOLIDATION) (AMENDMENT No.11) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that the KENT COUNTY COUNCIL proposes to make an Order under sections 1, 2, 32, 35, 36, 45, 46, 47, 49, 53, 124 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Traffic Management Act 2004, and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act.
The effect of the Order is:-
(a) the removal of the two existing disabled persons’ parking bays outside of the Baptist Church in Strode Crescent, Sheerness and extending the existing double yellow lines at this location
(b) amending the times of the existing single yellow line on the east side of The Mall, Faversham, near the junction of Nelson Street, from 8.30am-6.30pm Monday to Saturday to 8.00am-6.30pm on all days to align the restrictions with the adjacent loading restrictions
(c) removing existing redundant disabled persons’ parking bays outside 62 Whitstable Road and 14 Belmont Road in Faversham, outside 8 Connaught Road, 15 Epps Road, 9 Harrier Drive, 107/109 Shortlands Road, 13 Langley Road and 26 Springfield Road in Sittingbourne, outside 25 and 51 Invicta Road in Sheerness and outside 20 Stanley Avenue in Queenborough
(d) installing new, or formalising existing, disabled persons’ parking bays outside 56 Main Road, 51A High Street and 23 Harold Street in Queenborough, 96 Marine Parade, 67 James Street, 98 Broadway and 12 Wellesley Road in Sheerness, 64 Prince Charles Avenue, opposite the rear of 1/2 Gaze Hill Avenue in School Road, outside 15 Merlin Close, 36 Swanstree Avenue, 66 Periwinkle Close and 4a Shakespeare Road in Sittingbourne, outside 3 Meadow Close in Iwade, and outside 123 St Mary’s Road and 5/6 Garfield Place in Faversham.
The Order will include some wording changes of an administrative matter which will make no alterations to existing parking and waiting restrictions and will require no changes to existing parking lines or signs.
A full statement of the Council’s reasons for making the proposed Order, a plan indicating the location and the effect and a copy of any other Orders which will be amended by the proposed Order may be examined on the consultation page of our website at www.swale.gov.uk, or at Swale House Council Offices, East Street, Sittingbourne, Kent ME10 3HT during office hours by appointment booked through Engineers@swale.gov.uk.
Representations supporting or objecting to the proposed Order (your objection must explain the impact on traffic in the locality to be valid) can be sent in writing to Engineers@swale.gov.uk or by post to the Engineering Team, Leisure & Technical Services, Council Offices, Swale House, East Street, Sittingbourne, Kent, ME10 3HT by 12 noon on Friday 31st January 2025.
