Cumberland, Multiple Roads, Temporary Traffic Restrictions

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, WHITEHAVEN, ULPHA AND THWAITES) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 13 January 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

SCHEDULE

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

1. Flatt Walks, Whitehaven - From 13 January 2025 for approx. 2 days (Ref: TTROC/13108)

From a point approx 160m north west of its junction with Coach Road, extending in a north westerly direction for approx 60m.

Alternative Routes:

South East Bound Vehicles: via the unrestricted sections of Flatt Walks, Lowther Street, Strand Street, Tangier Street, Bransty Road, A5094, Loop Road North, A595, Inkerman Terrace and Back Corkickle; and North West Bound Vehicles: via the unrestricted sections of Flatt Walks, Back Corkickle, A5094, A595, Loop Road North, A5094, Bransty Road, George Street, Church Street, Duke Street and Scotch Street.

2. C4028, Ulpha - From 8 February 2025 for approx. 1 week (Ref: TTROC/13021)

From its junction with the C4026, extending in a north easterly direction to its junction with the C5008.

Alternative Route: via the C5008, Kiln Bank Cross, A593, A595, Smithy Lane, C5007 and Sella Brow.

3. C4028, Ulpha - From 12 February 2025 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/13022)

From its junction with the C4026, extending in an overall southerly direction to its junction with Sella Brow.

Alternative Route: via Sella Brow, C5007, Smithy Lane, A595, C5008, A593, Kiln Bank Cross and the unrestricted section of the C4028.

4. C4028, near Ulpha - From 19 February 2025 for approx. 4 days (Ref: TTROC/13023) From its junction with Corney Fell Road to its junction with Bobbin Mill Hill.

Alternative Route: via Bobbin Mill Hill, Sella Brow, C5007, Smithy Lane, A595 and the C4028.

5. U4065, Thwaites - From 28 March 2025 for approx. 4 days (Ref: TTROC/13045)

From its junction with Buckman Brow, extending in a northerly direction to its junction with the U4064. Alternative Route: via the U4046, C4028 Duddon Bridge and Buckman Brow.

6. Bobbin Mill Hill, Ulpha - From 3 April 2025 for approx. 4 days (Ref: TTROG 13046)

From its junction with the U4085, extending in a north easterly direction to its junction with Sella Brow.
