What is happening?

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE A137 CHANCERY ROAD AND WEST END ROAD AND R1D75 PRINCES STREET, IPSWICH

Suffolk County Council Intends to make an order closing the following roads:

  • A137 Chancery Road, Ipswich from Princes Street to West End Road
  • A137 West End Road, Ipswich from Chancery Road for 127 metres westbound
  • B1075 Princes Street, Ipswich from Burred Road to Civic Drive. This is to facilitate crowd control movements.

Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Burrell Road, Stoke Street, Bridge Street, Greyfriars Road, Franciscan Way, Civic Drive, Hanoford Road, Ranelagh Road and wee versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate on 16/01/2025 from 6pm - 11pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister). Enquiries should be made to Suffolk Constabulary. Tel: 07583 018447.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE B1079 GRUNDISBURGH ROAD, HASKETON

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the B1079 Grundisburgh Road, Hasketon from The Granary for 75 metres westbound to facilitate a new electrical connection.

Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be the B1079, the B1078, the B1077, the A1214, the A12, the B1079 and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 16/01/2025 - 17/01/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister). Enquiries should be made to Highway Safety Management. Tel: (01473) 544365.

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (DISTRICT OF WAVENEY) (STOPPING, WAITING AND LOADING PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICYIONS AND ON-STREET PARKING PLACES) (MAP-BASED) ORDER 2018 (SOUTHWOLD) (EAST STREET) OI1630) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING) (VARIATION NO. 36) ORDER 2024

On 23/12/2024 Suffolk County Council made the above order under Sections 1,2, 3.4 and Part IV of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1954, as amended. This substitutes revision 1 of Map Tile CP190 in place of revision 0 of the same Map Tile, into the above-named 2018 Order. The effect of this would be to introduce: 'No waiting at any time' on

  • East Street (U1630) on the southern side, from a point 17.5 metres east of Market Place, east for a distance of 39 metres.

Exemptions to the waiting restrictions allow a vehicle to wait for so long as is necessary to board or alight or to load and unload for building, industrial or demolition works, for emergency services, for the maintenance of the road or its services and for fulfilling statutory duties. There are the usual setting down/picking up exemptions for Blue Badge holders. A copy of the order which comes into effect on 08/01/2025 and plan(s) showing the roads affected, may be seen with advance notice at the address below, 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday and also at Southwold Library, Old Hospital Hub, Field Stile Road, Southwold IP18 6LD: 10am - 1pm and 2pm - 6pm Tuesday - Friday; 9.30am - 1pm and 2pm - 5pm Saturday, and 11am - 4pm on Sunday, excluding bank holidays and public holidays. If anyone wishes to question the validity of the order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any of the requirements of that Act or any instrument made under it nave not been complied with in relation to the order, they may within six weeks of the date on which the order was made apply to the High Court for this purpose.
