TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025 (NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

(i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

  • GUILDHALL HILL – from its junction with Lower Goat Lane to its junction with Exchange Street to facilitate refurbishment of large telecoms chamber from 13th to 22nd January 2025 (may continue until 5th March 2025).

    • Alternative route: St Giles Street, Gaol Hill, Gentlemans Walk.

  • HELLESDON ROAD – from 150m south of its junction with St. Edmunds Close for 470m southwards to facilitate gas replacement works from 13th to 24th January 2025 (may continue until 7th March 2025).

    • Alternative route: Marl Pit Lane, Hellesdon Road.

  • MAID MARIAN ROAD – from its junction with A140 Ipswich Road for 210m south-eastwards to facilitate gas main replacement works from 13th to 21st February 2025 (may continue until 21st August 2025).

    • Alternative route: via A140 Ipswich Road, Locksley Road, Hall Road, Tuckswood Lane, Scarlet Road, Greenwood Road, Tuckswood Centre.

  • ROSARY ROAD – from 2m south of its junction with Chalk Hill Road for 25m southwards to facilitate chamber repairs works from 13th to 15th January 2025 (may continue until 26th February 2025).

    • Alternative route: via Southbound diversion Rosary Road, Riverside Road, Thorpe Road. Northbound diversion Rosary Road, Thorpe Road, Carrow Road, Canary Way, Koblenz Avenue, Carrow Road.

  • SHIPSTONE ROAD – 1) Shipstone Road from its junction with Constitution Hill to its junction with Magdalen Road and 2) Shipstone Road from its junction with Magdalen Road to its junction with Waterloo Road to facilitate reconfiguration works.

    • The road 1) will be temporarily closed and traffic on the road 2) shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load and/or unload from 13th January to 16th March 2025 (may continue until 16th September 2025).

    • Alternative route: via N/A.

  • WALL ROAD – from its junction with St. Clements Hill for 40m eastwards to facilitate telecoms joint box installation and cabling works between 09:30 and 15:30 from 11th to 12th January 2025 (may continue until 23rd February 2025).

    • Alternative route: via Wall Road, Constitution Hill, St Clements Hill.

(ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

  • BRACONDALE – from 63m south of its junction with Ice House Lane for 5m northwards to facilitate chamber replacement works. Traffic over the road shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 9th to 13th January 2025 (may continue until 24th February 2025).

    • Alternative route: via N/A.

  • CHARTWELL ROAD

    1. A1042 Chartwell Road (eastbound only) from its junction with B1150 Constitution Hill to its junction with School Lane and

    2. School Lane from its junction with A1042 Chartwell Road to its junction with Chartwell Close to facilitate new telecoms pole installation works between 09:00 and 16:00 on 5th January 2025 (may continue until 6th February 2025).

    • Alternative route for Chartwell Road: via A1042 Mile Cross Lane, A1402 Aylsham Road, Magdalen Road, Sprowston Road.

    • Alternative route for School Lane: via B1150 Constitution Hill (Sprowston). Diversion routes will be signposted.

At the N Chartwell Road site, management operatives will be present at either end of the closure. At the Eastern end, they will ensure that Fire Service vehicles, emergency access, and exit closure to the East N.B School Lane – Traffic will be diverted along School Lane and B1150 Constitution Hill, to the roundabout with Chartwell Road. Road users, needing to travel East, will then be diverted along Chartwell Road.

  • HELLESDON MILL LANE – from its junction with Hellesdon Road for 200m westwards to facilitate gas main replacement works from 6th to 12th January 2025.

    • Alternative route: via Hellesdon Road

      Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed, the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works, it is due to the likelihood of danger to the public or serious damage to the road/footpath.

      Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required.

      The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months for vehicular highway or 6 months for non-vehicular highway.

      Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
