Essex - Temporary Road Closures and Clearway Restrictions due to Maintenance Works
What is happening?

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bentfield Green, Stansted in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 110m south west of its junction with Wetherfield for a distance of approximately 15m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 30th January 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (KA180S3016 - Gigaclear). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while blockage works are undertaken by Gigaclear.
An alternative route is available via Wetherfield, Bentfield End Causeway and vice versa (with access only into Bentfield Green).
The Order will come into effect on 9th January 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

1. To temporarily close that length of road in the District of Uttlesford as specified in the schedule to this Order.
2. A temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping' restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above length of road for the duration of the closure to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.
"The Essex County Council (Uttlesford District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time' restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 9th January 2025, exact dates will be specified on one.network.
The road will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.
