Redheugh Bridge - Prohibition All Vehicular Traffic For Works
What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
(REDHEUGH BRIDGE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on:
i) A189 Scotswood Road south bound lane to Redheugh Bridge from its junction with St James Gate
ii) A189 St James Boulevard southbound lane to Redheugh Bridge from a point 50 metres north of its junction with A189 Scotswood Road
iii) A695 Scotswood Road southbound lanes to Redheugh Bridge from a point 100 metres southwest of its junction with A189 St James Boulevard.
2. The alternative route for traffic will be signed on site as required.
3. The order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.
4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles engaged in the works and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call.
5. The Order will come into operation on the 16 February 2025 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to the 16 August 2026 or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
