What is happening?

THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD
(PROW - WH NO.063 WHICKHAM) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION ORDER 2024 NOTICE OF EXTENSION

On 03 July 2024 the Borough Council of Gateshead made an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which was to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along public right of way Footpath Whickham 63 for its entire length. The Order was required for public safety following a landslide making the footpath unstable. The Order came into force on 05 July 2024 and the maximum duration of the Order was 6 months. NOTICE IS NOW HEREBY GIVEN that on 20 December 2024, the Secretary of State granted an extension to the Order until 05 July 2025 or until further legal order. During the prohibition all pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding along the footpath.
