What is happening?
CITY OF BRISTOL
(PORTWAY (A4), SHIREHAMPTON AND AVONMOUTH, BRISTOL) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY VEHICLES) (TEMPORARY 20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF 30 MPH SPEED LIMIT) (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF WEIGHT LIMIT) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order the effect of which will be:-
1. to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of Portway (A4) specified in the Schedule to this Notice;
2. to supersede, temporarily the existing 30 mph speed limit in operation in that length of Portway (A4), from the common boundary line of No.550 and No.552 Portway (A4) north westwards for 511 metres, with a speed limit of 20 mph; and
3. to suspend, temporarily, when appropriate signs are covered, the prohibition of vehicles over 5 tonnes maximum gross weight limit in operation in lengths of High Street, Lower High Street, Park Hill and Shirehampton Road, so as to give effect to the alternative route as a consequence of item 1. above.
The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road and will be operative from 20th January 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the restrictions may not be implemented for the whole of the period, but only as necessitated by the works (which are anticipated to take place between 20th January 2025 and 20th November 2025).
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE:
Portway (A4) (part unaffected), Portway Roundabout, Avonmouth Road, Lower High Street, High Street, The Green, Park Hill, Shirehampton Road, Sylvan Way, Portway (A4) (part unaffected) and vice versa
SCHEDULE – Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles
Portway (A4) – northbound: from Barrow Hill Road north westwards for 370 metres
southbound: from Barrow Hill Road north westwards for 400 metres
(KINGS DRIVE, BISHOPSTON, BRISTOL) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY VEHICLES) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of Kings Drive specified in the Schedule to this Notice.
The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road and will be operative from 27th January 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period, but only as necessitated by the works (which will occur in five phases that are anticipated to take place between 27th January 2025 and 4th April 2025).
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: (Kings Drive (part unaffected)), Bishop Road, Kellaway Avenue, Coldharbour Road, Linden Road, Cranbrook Road, Clare Avenue, (Kings Drive (part unaffected)) and vice versa

(BANNERMAN ROAD, EASTON, BRISTOL) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY VEHICLES) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Bannerman Road which extends from Easton Road to Combfactory Lane.
The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road and will be operative from 27th January 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closure may not be implemented for the whole of the period, but only as necessitated by the works (which are anticipated to take place between 27th January 2025 and 28th February 2025).
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Easton Road, Bouverie Street, St. Gabriels Road, Felix Road, Bannerman Road (part unaffected) and vice versa
