What is happening?

Norfolk County Council TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025 (NORWICH) Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

(i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

BRACONDALE - from 63m south of its junction with Ice House Lane for 5m northwards to facilitate chamber replacement works. Traffic over the road shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 9th to 13th January 2025 (may continue until 24th February 2025). Alternative route is via: N/A.

CHARTWELL ROAD - 1) A1042 Chartwell Road (eastbound only) from its junction with B1150 Constitution Hill to its junction with School Lane and 2) School Lane from its junction with A1042 Chartwell Road to its junction with Chartwell Close to facilitate new telecoms pole installation works between 09:00 and 16:00 on 5th January 2025 (may continue until 6th February 2025). Alternative route is via: 1) - A1042 Chartwell Road, A1042 Mile Cross Lane, A1402 Aylsham Road, Magpie Road, A1151 Magdalen Road, A1151 Sprowston Road. 2) - School Lane, B1150 Constitution Hill (Sprowston, Norwich). Diversion routes will be symbolised. N.B Chartwell Road - Traffic management operatives will be present at either end of the closure. At the Western end, they will manage access to properties on Chartwell Road. At the Eastern end, they will ensure that Fire Service vehicles, responding to emergencies, can exit the closure to the East. N.B School Lane - Traffic will be diverted, along School Lane and B1150 Constitution Hill, to the roundabout junction of Chartwell Road. Road users, needing to travel East, will then be able to join the Chartwell Road diversion route to do so.

HELLESDON MILL LANE - from its junction with Hellesdon Road for 20m westwards to facilitate gas main replacement works from 6th to 12th January 2025 (may continue until 23rd February 2025). Alternative route is via: Hellesdon Road.

LOWER CLARENCE ROAD - from the west side of its junction with Stracey Road, westwards for a distance of 242m to a point 55m south of its junction with Thorpe Road to facilitate the staging of football matches at Carrow Road Stadium and the safe travel of fans attending those matches and the restriction will now continue in effect from 10th January to 4th May 2025 (previously 5th November 2023 to 9th January 2025) only on those days when a football match is being held at Carrow Road Stadium and only while signs indicating the closure are in place.

PEMBROKE ROAD - from 3m south of its junction with Parker Road to 20m north of Doris Road to facilitate Anglian Water new connection works from 8th to 10th January 2025 (may continue until 21st February 2025). Alternative route is via: Southbound Diversion Denbigh Road, Park Lane, Avenue Road. Northbound Diversion Avenue Road, Park Lane, Denbigh Road.

RAGLAN STREET - from its junction with Dereham Road for 30m northwards to facilitate Norfolk County Council infrastructure works relating to TCF scheme from 6th January to 9th March 2025 (may continue until 9th September 2025). Alternative route is via: Dereham Road, Orchard Street and Lothian Street.

ST. GEORGES STREET - from 70m north of its junction with Colegate for 30m northwards to facilitate water meter replacement works on the 6th January 2025 (may continue until 17th February 2025). Alternative route is via: Cross Lane, Calvert Street, St. Crispins Road, Whitefriars, Fishergate, Fye Bridge Street, Colegate.

ST. SWITHINS ROAD (Cycle Lane) - from 10m east of its junction with St. Swithins Terrace to its junction with St. Benedicts Street to facilitate reinstatement remedial works from 9th to 10th January 2025 (may continue until 21st February 2025). Alternative route is via: N/A.

TOMBLAND - from 11m north-east of its junction with Queens Street for 26m north-eastwards to facilitate Norfolk County Council removal of blockage within telecoms duct. Traffic shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload between 09:30 and 15:30 from 6th to 7th January 2025 (may continue until the 18th February 2025). Alternative route is via: N/A.

NB: Please note that the restriction applies to the bus stop and loading bay on the east side of Tombland. The Taxi rank and disabled parking will remain open.

(ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following road:

DOVER STREET - from its junction with Portersfield Road to its junction with Unthank Road to facilitate Anglian Water lead communication replacement works from 2nd to 31st January 2025 (may continue until 31st July 2025). Alternative route is via: Portersfield Road, Portland Street, Unthank Road.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months for vehicular highway or 6 months for non-vehicular highway.

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention. Full details on the closures/restrictions are available at https://one.network.
