What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Duke Street, Chelmsford)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Duke Street, Chelmsford in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 30m south east of its junction with Threadneedle Street for a distance of approximately 10m in a south easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th January 2025 for 4 nights (21:00-05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EN013306962 – Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while water connection works are undertaken by Essex And Suffolk Water.

An alternative route is available via Victoria Road South, Parkway Roundabout Victoria Road South, Parkway, New London Road.

The Order will come into effect on 9th January 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(The Chase, Chelmsford)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of The Chase, Chelmsford in the City of Chelmsford, from its junction with Manor Road to its junction with Kings Way a distance of approximately 35m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th January 2025 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411SA002WFTGP57X – Openreach).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.

No alternative route is available.

The Order will come into effect on 9th January 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, Borough of Basildon & City of Chelmsford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.1) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the Borough of Basildon & City of Chelmsford as specified in the schedule to this Order.

2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of roads for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

“The Essex County Council (Basildon Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

“The Essex County Council (Chelmsford City) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. (North Hill, Chelmsford/Worlds End, Hatfield Peverel) (Temporary Introduction of a 30mph Speed Restriction) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily introduce a 30mph speed restriction in that length of North Hill, Chelmsford/Worlds End, Hatfield Peverel, in the City of Chelmsford & District of Braintree, from a point approximately 565m north west then north east of the junction with Spring Close for a distance of approximately 330m in a north easterly then north westerly then north easterly direction.

The restriction is scheduled to commence on 16th January 2025 for 106 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH10004221 – Essex County Council). 

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The restriction is required for the safety of the public and workforce while barrier installation works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

The Order came into effect on 19th December 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the City of Chelmsford as specified in the schedule to this Order.

2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on those lengths of roads specified in the schedule. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping restriction will be in force.
