What is happening?

(Airport Link) (Temporary One Way Closure, Temporary Prohibition Of Driving, Temporary 30mph Speed Limit) Notice 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce Temporary Eastbound closure: Manchester East Airport Link, Heald Green eastbound closure from the junction of Wilmslow Road to the junction of Handforth Bypass. 

Temporary Westbound closure: Manchester East Airport Link, Heald Green westbound closure from the junction of Handforth Bypass to the junction of Wilmslow Road. 

Temporary Prohibition of Driving: Manchester East Airport Link, Heald Green from the junction of Wilmslow Road to the junction of Handforth Bypass. 

Temporary 30mph limit: Manchester East Airport Link, Heald Green temporary 30mph speed limit from the junction of Wilmslow Road to the junction of Handforth Bypass. 

whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road. 

This Order is necessary because road repair works to repair a bridge point are being, or are proposed to be executed. 

It is anticipated that the maximum duration of the works will be 2 weeks. 

This Order is to come into operation on the 10 January 2025 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. Ref: ZA/6172382.
