What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic  Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

SWALE AREA

A299 Thanet Way Slip, Graveney, ME13 9HY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow street lighting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A299 Thanet Way Slip, Graveney, from 20:00 hours on 20th January 2025, with estimated completion by 04:00 hours on 21st January 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Whitstable Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A299 Thanet Way, Highstreet Road, Monkshill Road, Seasalter Road, Head Hill Road, Head Hill and Whitstable Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

B2040 Whitstable Road & Graveney Road, Faversham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY 30 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic and to impose a temporary, mandatory 30 mph speed restriction on part of B2040 Whitstable Road & Graveney Road, Faversham. These restrictions will be carried out from 20th January 2025, with estimated completion by 14th February 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The temporary mandatory 30 mph speed restriction will be imposed on B2040 Whitstable Road between the junction with Staple Street Road and the National Speed Limit sign on Graveney Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The roads will be closed between the junctions with Staple Street Road and B2040 Love Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Staple Street Road, Staple Street, A299 Thanet Way, A2 Brenley Corner Roundabout, London Road, Canterbury Road, B2040 Love Lane and vice versa.

 

Clockhouse Lane, Boughton Under Blean, ME13 9LU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow level crossing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Clockhouse Lane, Boughton Under Blean, from 26th January 2025 for up to one day, between the hours of 06:00 and 19:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed 20m either side of the level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Clockhouse Lane, Selling Road, Brenley Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Crockham Lane, Hernhill, ME13 9JY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow tree works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Crockham Lane, Hernhill, from 7th January 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with Church Hill and Crockham Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Hill, Staplestreet Road, Dawes Road, Thread Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Frognal Lane, Teynham, ME9 9QJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow manhole works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Frognal Lane, Teynham, from 6th January 2025, with estimated completion by 8th January 2025, between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the junction with A2 London Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2 London Road, Hempstead Lane, Lower Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Iwade Road, Newington, ME9 8QD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Iwade Road, Newington, from 20th January 2025, with estimated completion by 22nd January 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Basser Hill, Sheerness Road, The Street, Breach Lane, Boxted Lane, School Lane, Iwade Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Lower Road, Buckland. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow rail track works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Lower Road, Buckland, from 26th January 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 16:00 and 22:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of the level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Lower Road, Lower Norton Lane, A2 London Road, B2045 Western Link, Bysing Wood Road, Luddenham Hill, Bysing Wood Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Monkshill Road, Hernhill, ME13 9EG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Monkshill Road, Hernhill, from 20th January 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Waterham Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any westbound through traffic is via High Street Road, Huffkins Way, A299 Thanet Way, Staple Street, Staplestreet Road, Head Hill, Head Hill Road and Seasalter Road.

The alternative route for any eastbound through traffic is via Seasalter Road, Head Hill Road, Head Hill, Whitstable Road, A299 Thanet Way and High Street Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Scocles Road, Minster-on-sea, ME12 3PW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Scocles Road, Minster-on-sea, from 8th January 2025, with estimated completion by 9th January 2025, between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with Back Lane and Nelson Avenue, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Scocles Road, Thistle Hill Way, Plover Road, Barton Hill Drive, B2008 Minster Road, High Street, Back Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Stalisfield Road, Stalisfield. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Stalisfield Road, Stalisfield, from 20th January 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Gravel Hill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Stalisfield Road, Gravel Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Upper St Anns Road, Faversham, ME13 8QP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow rail works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Upper St Anns Road, Faversham, from 26th January 2025 between the hours of 00:30 and 06:00, with estimated completion by 27th January 2025 between the hours of 20:00 and 04:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed 20m either side of the railway bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Various Roads, Faversham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow the Kent Active Travel Scheme to take place, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads in Faversham from 6th January 2025, with estimated completion by 26th March 2025, or until the works have been completed.

Works Schedule

William Street, Faversham
William Street will be closed from 6th January 2025, with estimated completion by 19th January 2025.
A further closure for William Street will take place from 27th January 2025, with estimated completion by 29th January 2025, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00.
The road will be closed in its entirety for the duration of both closures.

St Johns Road, Faversham
St Johns Road will be closed from 3rd February 2025, with estimated completion by 16th February 2025.
The road will be closed in its entirety.
A further closure for St Johns Road will take place from 20:00 hours on 21st February 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 22nd February 2025.
The road will be closed at the junction with St Marys Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

St Marys Road, Faversham
St Marys Road will be closed from 17th February 2025, with estimated completion by 28th February 2025.
The road will be closed in its entirety.
A further closure for St Marys Road will take place from 20:00 hours on 21st February 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 22nd February 2025.
The road will be closed at the junction with St Johns Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

B2041 Newton Road, Faversham
B2041 Newton Road will be closed from 19th March 2025, with estimated completion by 23rd March 2025, between the hours of 20:00 and 04:00.
The road will be closed between the junctions with B2040 East Street and B2041 Station Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Bank Street, Faversham
Bank Street will be closed from 24th March 2025, with estimated completion by 26th March 2025, between the hours of 20:00 and 04:00.
The road will be closed at the entrance to the swimming pool car park. Alternative access for the car park will be signed on site and managed, for the duration of the works.
The alternative route for through traffic during all closures is via Park Road, B2040 East Street, B2041 Newton Road, Station Road and vice versa.
