What is happening?

Parish of Bishop's Lydeard

Temporary Closure of Brendons and Homefield

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, propose to make an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along:

  • Brendons - from the junction with Taunton Road, for its entirety a distance of 63 metres; and
  • Homefield - from the junction with Taunton Road, for its entirety a distance of 122 metres.

A total distance of 185 metres. This Order will enable Airband to access JRCs for splicing works.

The Order becomes effective on 9th January 2025 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The works are expected to commence on 14th January 2025 and last until 16th January 2025 between the hours of 09:30 - 15:30 for a total of 3 days.

There is no alternative route for this closure.

a) Because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; or b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
