Canterbury, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,  makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

A257 Wingham Road, Littlebourne & Bramling. (TEMPORARY 40 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow tree works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to impose a temporary mandatory 40 mph speed restriction on part of A257 Wingham Road, Littlebourne & Bramling from 20th January 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The temporary mandatory 40 mph speed restriction on A257 Wingham Road, Littlebourne & Bramling will be imposed between the entrance to Weir Lodge and 2 Duckpits Cottages, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

 

Anvil Green Road, Waltham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Anvil Green Road, Waltham, from 8th January 2025, with estimated completion by 10th January 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of The Lillie, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Anvil Green Road, Kake Street, Richdore Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Black Robin Lane, Kingston, CT4 6HN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Black Robin Lane, Kingston from 22nd January 2025, with estimated completion by 7th February 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with A2 and Covet Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2 Dover Road, A2 From J A260 To J A2050 Patrixbourne NW, Canterbury, Bonny Bush Hill, Black Robin Lane.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Canterbury 10 Mile Road Race 2025.  (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & WAITING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow the Canterbury 10 mile road race to be held, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on parts of various roads in Canterbury, from 26th January 2025 for up to one day.

Spring Lane, Canterbury will be closed between the junctions with A257 St Martins Hill and Pilgrims Road, between the hours of 07:30 and 12:00.

The alternative route is via A257 St Martin’s Hill, Longport, A257 Lower Chantry Lane, A2050 New Dover Road, St Augustine’s Road and onto Pilgrim’s Way.

Bifrons Hill, Patrixbourne will be closed from the A2 slip road travelling northbound for a distance of 150 meters, between the hours of 09:10 and 09:50.

Coldharbour Lane, Canterbury will be closed from the junction with Highland Court Farm Industrial Estate to the junction with Bramling Road, between the hours of 09:20 and 10:30.

Bramling Road, Canterbury will be closed up to the junction of Shepherds Close Road, between the hours of 09:20 and 10:30.

Pilgrims Road will be closed for its entire length, between the hours of 09:00 and 09:10.

All roads will be re-opened as soon as it is safe to do so and marshals will be on site.

Access for emergency service vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.

Waiting and loading will be prohibited at all times on Spring Lane, Canterbury between the junctions with A257 St Martin’s Hill and Pilgrims Road, on both sides where there are no existing double yellow lines.

No waiting restrictions apply from Saturday 26th January 2025 at 17:00, through until Sunday 27th January 2025 at 13:00, when clearly indicated by no waiting signs and cones placed on site.

 

Catt’s Wood Road Path, Lower Hardres & Lime Kiln Lane, Bossingham (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow drainage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Catt’s Wood Road Path, Lower Hardres & Lime Kiln Lane, Bossingham, from 23rd January 2025 for up to one day, or until the works have been completed.

The roads will be closed at the junctions where they meet, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for Catt’s Wood Path, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

The alternative route for Lime Kiln Lane is via Lime Kiln Lane, B2068 Stone Street, Street End, Hardres Court Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Chartham Downs Road, Chartham, CT4 7TW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow drainage works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Chartham Downs Road, Chartham, from 20th January 2025, with estimated completion by 21st January 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between numbers 26 and 27, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Chartham Downs Road, B2068 Faussett Hill, Nackington Road, Old Dover Road, A28 Rhodaus Town, Wincheap Green, Wincheap, Thanington Road, Ashford Road, Shalmsford Street, Chartham Downs Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Cherry Gardens, Herne Bay, CT6 5QZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow trenching works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Cherry Gardens, Herne Bay, from 6th January 2025, with estimated completion by 17th January 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Church Lane, Seasalter, CT5 4UA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Lane, Seasalter, from 7th January 2025, with estimated completion by 17th January 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed approximately 60m from the junction with Rowan Tree Park, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Lane, Faversham Road, Joy Lane, B2205 Borstal Hill, A2990 Thanet Way and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Mill Lane, Harbledown, CT2 8LB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow carriageway works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mill Lane, Harbledown from 10th January 2025, with estimated completion by 15th January 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed adjacent to number 1A Knight Avenue, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Mill Lane, Herne, CT6 6AW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow heavy jetting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mill Lane, Herne, from 20th January 2025, with estimated completion by 24th January 2025, between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the junction with A299 Thanet Way, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A299 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, Herne Street, School Lane, Mill Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

This closure is in conjunction with a lane closure on A299 Thanet Way Westbound Off Slip, put in place for safety reasons.

 

Millstrood Road, Whitstable, CT5 1PT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic, in phases, from 20th January 2025, with estimated completion by 6th April 2025, or until the works have been completed.

Millstrood Road Works Schedule

Phase 1 The road will be closed between the junctions with Bellevue Road and St Marks Close, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Phase 2 The road will be closed between the junctions with St Marks Close and Willow Court, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Phase 3 The road will be closed between number 31 and the junction with Grimshill Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Phase 4 The road will be closed between the junctions with Grimshill Road and Gorrell Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2990 Thanet Way, Church Street, The Bridge Approach, Old Bridge Road and vice versa.

These works are in conjunction with a closure on Bellevue Road and two-way temporary traffic lights on Millstrood Road, starting from 6th January 2025.

Information for residents of Bellevue Road (private road):

Bellevue Road will be closed at the junction with Millstrood Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via Bellevue Road, Downs Road, Old Bridge Road, Millstrood Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Upper Grounds & Highstead, Chislet. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Upper Grounds & Highstead, Chislet, from 6th January 2025, with estimated completion by 24th January 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The roads will be closed in the vicinity of Highstead riding stables, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for Upper Grounds, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

The alternative route for through traffic for Highstead is via Boyden Gate Hill, North Stream, Chapel Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

White Horse Lane, Canterbury, CT1 2JH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow drainage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of White Horse Lane, Canterbury, from 9th January 2025 for up to one day, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Salvation Army, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
