The A46 Trunk Road (Tolldown To Upper Swainswick) (30 Mph, 40 Mph And 50 Mph Speed Limits) Order 2025
Notice is given that National Highways Limited (a) proposes to make an Order under section 84(1)(a) and (2) of, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the A46 Trunk Road in South Gloucestershire and Bath and North East Somerset.
The effect of the Order would be to impose:
1. A 50 mph speed limit on the A46 between:
(a) 860 metres south of the southern edge of M4 Junction 18 and a point 110 metres north of the entrance to Shrubbery Farm;
(b) 1470 metres north of the junction with Swainswick Lane and a point 490 metres north of the junction with Swainswick Lane.
2. A 30 mph speed limit on the A46 northbound and southbound between 110 metres north of the entrance to Shrubbery Farm and 275 metres north of Cold Ashton Roundabout.
3. A 40 mph speed limit on the A46 northbound and southbound between 275 metres north of Cold Ashton Roundabout and 1470 metres north of the junction with Swainswick Lane.
This order revokes The A46 Trunk Road (Upper Swainswick to Pennsylvania) (40 and 50 MPH Speed Limits) Order 2002, and The A46 Trunk Road (Pennsylvania) (40 mph Speed Limit) Order 2001.
A copy of the Order, a plan, and a statement of National Highways reasons for making the Order may be inspected during normal office hours at Bath and North East Somerset Council One Stop Shop, 3 to 4 Manvers Street, Bath, BA1 1JQ and Bath and North East Somerset Council One Stop Shop, Civic Centre, Market Walk, Keynsham, BS31 1FS.
They may also be obtained from PABS, National Highways, Brunel House, 930 Hempton Court, Aztec West, Almondsbury, BS32 4SR or by e-mailing southwestttro@nationalhighways.co.uk, quoting reference NHSW 04/24.
Anyone wishing to object to the proposed Order should send, not later than 21 January 2025 or within 21 days from the date of first publication of this notice, if that period expires later, a written statement of their objection and the grounds on which it is made to National Highways at the address above, quoting reference NHSW 04/24.
