What is happening?

LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON

(VARIOUS ROADS) (NO. 9)

(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

  1. The London Borough of Merton Council hereby give notice that to facilitate a programme of gas mains replacement works to be undertaken in the roads specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this Notice, they have made an Order, the effect of which, during the works, will be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic from:

    • (a) entering or proceeding in the roads specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this notice;
    • (b) waiting, including for the purposes of loading or unloading, and in any parking places, in the roads specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this notice.

    (NB - the works will be carried out in 50 metre lengths).

  2. Any designated parking place situated in any of the roads or lengths of road specified in paragraph 1(b) above or in column 1 of the Schedule to this notice will be suspended for the duration of the works in those roads or lengths of road.

  3. The restrictions and suspensions will apply only during such times and to such extent as will from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

  4. Alternative routes for diverted traffic will be indicated by advance warning and diversion signs on the roads affected when the works are in progress and will likely be those diversion routes specified in column 2 of the Schedule to this notice.

  5. Any vehicle that is in contravention of any waiting restrictions imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

  6. Nothing in the Order will apply to:

    • (a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or
    • (b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or
    • (c) emergency service vehicles, subject to site conditions; or
    • (d) any person requiring vehicular access to properties adjacent to the prohibited roads or lengths of road, insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.
  7. The Order will come into force on Thursday 2nd January 2025 with the works anticipated to be completed by 3 February 2025. However, the Order will remain in operation for a maximum period of 3 months and its provisions will be re-introduced should further works be required.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)

LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON

(AMITY GROVE, SW20)

(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

  1. The Council of the London Borough of Merton hereby give notice that to facilitate tower crane removal works in Amity Grove, SW20, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the said road.

  2. During the works no person would:

    • (a) cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed in Amity Grove, from its junction with Coombe Lane to the common boundary of Nos. 2 and 2A Amity Grove; or
    • (b) cause or permit any vehicle to wait in the street or length of street specified in paragraph 2(a) above;
    • (c) enter or proceed on the eastern footway of Amity Grove, from its junction with Coombe Lane northward for a distance of 46 metres.
  3. Any designated parking place situated in the length of Amity Grove specified in paragraph 2(a) above would be suspended for the duration of the works.

  4. The “no-entry” restriction prohibiting vehicles from entering Amity Grove from Coombe Lane would be suspended during the works.

  5. The restrictions and suspensions would only apply during such times and to such extent as would from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

  6. Nothing in the Order would apply to:

    • (a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or
    • (b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform, a police community support officer in uniform; or
    • (c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes; or
    • (d) any person requiring access to properties adjacent to the road or lengths of road specified in paragraph 2(a) above, insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works; or
    • (e) any person requiring access to properties adjacent to the footway specified in paragraph 2(c) above.
  7. Vehicular traffic affected by the road closure should proceed using Coombe Lane and Durham Road.

  8. Pedestrians affected by the footway closure should proceed using the footway opposite.

  9. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

  10. The Order would come into operation on Friday 17th January 2025 and would remain in force for 3 months. It is currently anticipated that Amity Grove would be closed to vehicular traffic on the following dates: 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th and 31st January 2025 and 1st February 2025. However, the Order would remain in force for 3 months should further works be required.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTIONS 14(1) AND 14(7)

LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON

(BEULAH ROAD, SW19)

(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

  1. The Council of the London Borough of Merton hereby give notice that to facilitate railway track works from Dundonald Road, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic and suspend the one-way working in Beulah Road.

  2. During the works:

    • (a) no person would cause or permit any vehicle to wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading any vehicle, in Beulah Road; and
    • (b) the one-way working in Beulah Road would be suspended.
  3. The restrictions and suspension would only apply during such times and to such extent as would from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

  4. Any designated parking place situated in Beulah Road would be suspended for the duration of the said works.

  5. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any waiting prohibition imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

  6. Nothing in paragraph 2(a) above would apply to:

    • (a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or
    • (b) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes.
  7. The Order would come into operation on Monday 6th January 2025 with the works anticipated to take place between the hours of 10pm and 4am the following day until 9th January 2025. However, the Order would remain in operation for a maximum period of three months and its provisions would be re-introduced during that period should further works be required.
