Essex, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures for Maintenance and Safety Works
What is happening?
Essex County Council
closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion route will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.

The Order came into effect on 12th December 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Wellington Hill, Waltham Abbey in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 415m south east of its junction with Pynest Green Lane for a distance of approximately 20m in a south easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 13th January 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MU288DM18214 – Thames Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while meter exchange works are undertaken by Thames Water.
An alternative route is available via Pynest Green Lane, Avey Lane, Road Between Manor Road And Avey Lane, Manor Road and vice versa (with access only into Wellington Hill).
The Order came into effect on 12th December 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Woolmongers Lane, Ongar)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Woolmongers Lane, Ongar in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 210m north west of its junction with Nine Ashes Road for a distance of approximately 40m in a north westerly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 29th January 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30013549678 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new supply works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.
An alternative route is available via Woolmongers Lane, Nine Ashes Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 12th December 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
