(FELLSIDE & CRAGSIDE AREA, SOUTH
SHIELDS 20 MPH) ORDER 2024
On 18 December 2024 South Tyneside Council
made an Order under Section 84 of and
Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act
1984 and all other enabling powers. The Order
which comes into operation on 3 January 2025
will reduce the speed limit to 20mph on
Cragside, South Shields; Fellside, South Shields
and Eastway, South Shields for their entire
lengths. Full details are contained in the Order,
which, together with a plan showing the lengths
of road affected and a statement of the Council’s
reasons for making the Order, may be inspected
from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm
at the Town Hall, Westoe Road, South Shields,
NE33 2RL. Any person who wishes to question
the validity of the Order or any of its provisions
on the grounds that it is not within the powers
conferred by the Act or that any of the
requirements of the Act or of any relevant
regulations made under the Act have not been
complied with may, within 6 weeks from 18
December 2024 when the order was made,
make an application for that purpose to the High
Court.
