What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Cosham Level Crossing) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.2) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 1st January 2025 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
PORTSMOUTH ROAD

From its junction with Windsor Road and Train Station Car Park Entrance.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate level crossing maintenance works.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 1st January 2025 to 31st December 2025 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, works will take place on specified dates as notified by signage and letters to residents in advance of works taking place.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from High Street, Vectis Way, Wootton Street, Wayte Street, Medina Road Roundabout, Northern Road and Portsmouth Road, Northern Road, Portsbridge Roundabout, Northern Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
