(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER NUMBER 3 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council have made an Order to temporarily close the lengths of roads described below and will hereby further introduce speed restrictions on the following lengths of roads described below in the County of Northumberland:-
The Order is to be effective from the 27th December 2024 until the 31st December 2025
A189 from Moor Farm roundabout to the Three Horse Shoes Roundabout northbound and southbound lanes for a distance of 9120 metres. It is expected that the roads will only be closed from the 29th March 2025 to 30th March 2025 and the 2nd August 2025 to 3rd August 2025 between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 during these periods; however, the order will remain in place until 31st December 2025.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the B1505.
A189 Annitsford to Moor Farm roundabout northbound and southbound lanes for a distance of 1740 metres. It is expected that the roads will only be closed from the 5th April 2025 to 6th April 2025 and the 9th August 2025 to 10th August 2025 between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 during these periods; however, the order will remain in place until 31st December 2025.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the B1505.
A189 Three Horse Shoes roundabout to Bebside northbound and southbound lanes for a distance of 5080 metres. It is expected that the roads will only be closed from the 5th April 2025 to 6th April 2025 and the 9th August 2025 to the 10th August 2025 between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 during these periods; however, the order will remain in place until 31st December 2025.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the B1505, A193 and vice versa.
A189 North Seaton roundabout to Bedlington Interchange northbound and southbound lanes for a distance of 8460 metres.
It is expected that the roads will only be closed from the 12th April 2025 to 13th April 2025 and the 16th August 2025 to 17th August 2025 between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 during these periods; however, the order will remain in place until 31st December 2025.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the A1147, B1334 and vice versa.
A189 Woodhorn Roundabout to North Seaton roundabout northbound and southbound lanes for a distance of 3520 metres. It is expected that the roads will only be closed from the 19th April 2025 to 20th April 2025 and the 23rd August 2025 to 24th August 2025 between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 during these periods; however, the order will remain in place until 31st December 2025.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the B1334, A197 and vice-versa.
A189 Bedlington Interchange to Bebside northbound and southbound lanes a distance of 2700 metres. It is expected that the roads will only be closed from the 19th April 2025 to 20th April 2025 and the 23rd August 2025 to 24th August 2025 between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 during these periods; however, the order will remain in place until 31st December 2025.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the B1311, A193 and vice versa.
Should the need arise changes may be made to any of the alternative routes and where possible these changes will be signposted accordingly.
Speed Restriction: 70mph down to 30mph
A189 Spine Road Moor Farm to Kitty Brewster Bridge starting from its point 623 metres north of its junction with A189 Three Horse Shoes roundabout heading northwards for a distance of 2733 metres.
A189 Spine Road Kitty Brewster Bridge to Woodhorn roundabout starting from its point 216 metres south of A189/A1147 northbound slip road heading northwards for a distance of 837 metres.
A189 Spine Road Kitty Brewster Bridge to Woodhorn roundabout from its point 320 metres south of A189 West/East Sleekburn southbound exit slip road heading southwards for a distance of 940 metres.
A189 Spine Road Moor Farm to Kitty Brewster Bridge from its point 357 metres south of A189/B1331 exit slip road heading southwards for a distance of 2,668 metres
Speed Restrictions: 70mph down to 50mph
A189 Spine Road Moor Farm to Kitty Brewster Bridge starting from its point 2,424 metres north of its junction with A19T Moor Farm roundabout to Seaton Burn roundabout heading northwards for a distance of 2,883 metres.
A189 Spine Road Kitty Brewster Bridge to Woodhorn roundabout starting from its point 85 metres north of A189 northbound entry slip road heading northwards for a distance of 2,228 metres.
A189 Spine Road Kitty Brewster Bridge to Woodhorn roundabout starting from its point 1,228 metres south of its junction with A189 North Seaton roundabout heading southwards for a distance of 2,228 metres.
A189 Spine Road Moor Farm to Kitty Brewster Bridge from its point 311 metres north of A192 southbound exit slip road heading southwards for a distance of 2,862 metres.
It is expected that the speed restrictions will be in force at all times from the 27th December 2024 until 31st December 2025.

The road closures and speed restrictions have been requested by Northumberland County Council for cyclic maintenance and Morgan Sindall for continued works of the northern line rail and station development works. In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.
