SECTION 14(1)

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL (STEVINGTON: FOOTPATH NO 16 AND PAVENHAM:

FOOTPATH NOS A1 AND 15)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Bedford Borough Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on foot along the length of Stevington: Footpath No 16 and Pavenham: Footpath Nos A1 and 15 which extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 9857 5520 to Ordnance Survey Grid Reference TL 9833 5418.

This closure is required due to surface condition. The closure follows an emergency made on the 4th December 2024 and will continue from Thursday 26th December 2024 for up to six months.

There is no alternative route for users while the closure is in operation.

The Order will come into operation on 26th December 2024 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out on or near to the footpaths have been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport.

THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the order made by Bedford Borough Council on 23rd December 2022, extended on 30th June 2023, 22nd December 2023 and 28th June 2024 the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on foot or on horseback or lead a horse or cycle along the length of Odell: Bridleway No 31 and Felmersham: Bridleway No 8 which extends from its junction with Mill Lane Odell at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) SP 9652 5775 to the OS GR SP 9711 5712 junction with Carlton Road Felmersham has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 6th July 2025.

This temporary closure is required as the bridge is unsafe. The closure will continue from Tuesday 7th January 2025 for up to six months.

There is no alternative routes for users while the closure is in operation.

THE STOPPING UP OF PART OF A HIGHWAY

AT 22 JENKYN ROAD, WOOTTON IN

THE PARISH OF WOOTTON, IN THE

COUNTY OF BEDFORDSHIRE

NOTICE IS GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council as Highway Authority intends to apply to Luton and South Bedfordshire Magistrates’ Court, Hearing Centre, Stuart Street, Luton LU1 5BL on Friday 14th February 2025 a 10am for an Order under section 116 of the Highways Act 1980 authorising the stopping up of an area of the highway.

The area to be stopped up commences from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 0045/4489 and running in a northern direction for approximately 19 metres to OSGR TL 0045/4491. For the avoidance of doubt, the entire section coloured orange as shown on the Order Map is to be stopped up on the ground that the highway is unnecessary. The effect of the Order sought will be to extinguish all highway rights over the highway subject to the application and prevent the passage of all traffic over them.

A copy of the draft Order and Plan showing in orange the area to be stopped up may be inspected free of charge at Borough Hall by appointment from 10am to 4pm on Weekdays (Bank and Public Holidays excepted) from 19 December 2024 until 31 January 2025. A copy of the Order as made and the Order Map have been placed and may be downloaded free of charge from the Bedford Borough Council Website. Any person to whom this Notice has been given or who uses the highways specified or who would be aggrieved by the making of the Order may appear before the Magistrates’ Court to raise an objection or make a representation on the application. Any person intending to appear before the Magistrates’ Court at the hearing of the application is requested to inform the Manager for Traffic Operations by e-mail to RightsofWay@bedford. gov.uk or by post to Bedford Borough Council, Room 436 Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP no later than 31 January 2025 quoting reference HAE 139 WOO.
