PUBLIC FOOTPATH SG8 (PART) – WOODEND)
(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that West Northamptonshire Council have made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along those lengths of Public Footpath RC4 (Part) in Blakesley and Public Footpath SG8 (Part) in Woodend as specified below. Private access to land or premises adjacent to the said lengths of footpaths are unaffected.
RIGHTS OF WAYS TO WHICH RESTRICTION APPLIES: The length of Public Footpath RC4 to be closed commences on the northern side of the bridge at point A on the order map at National Grid Reference (’NGR’) SP6317 4971. The route proceeds generally south crossing the bridge into the parish of Woodend as Footpath SG8 to terminate on the southern side of the bridge at point B at NGR SP6317 4970. The route to be closed is shown on the order map by a solid black line between points A-B.
REASONS FOR RESTRICTION: The restriction is required in the interest of health and safety. The bridge at the junction between the footpaths has been moved by flood water and is unusable for safe crossing of the stream. The footpaths need to be closed until the issue is resolved.
PERIOD OF CLOSURE: The Order will come into effect on 30th December 2024 and will continue in force for a period of six months. An application may be made for the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport for this Order to be extended if this proves necessary. However, the restriction specified will have effect only at such times and to such extent as is indicated by the display of notices.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: There are no suitable alternative routes.
