Shakespeare Street - Prohibition All Vehicular Traffic For Works
What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
(SHAKESPEARE STREET) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 12 December 2024 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic RegulationAct 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on Shakespeare Street for its entire length.
2. The alternative route for traffic will be signed on site as required.
3. The order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.
4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles engaged in the works and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call.
5. The Order will come into operation on 12 January 2025 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 29 June 2025 or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
