West Register St, Edinburgh - Temporary Road Restriction & Traffic Regulation

(WEST REGISTER STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD
RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION)
ORDER 2024 – TEMP/24/200

The Council has made an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate a safe working area for footway improvements works, no person shall: (a) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on West Register St: (1) from the southern kerbline of West Register St (northmost east-west leg), southwards to the northern kerbline of West Register St (southmost east-west leg); (2) from the east extent No. 1, southwards to its jnct with Princes St; & (3) section of West Register St due east of the eastern kerblines of West Register St (northmost north-south leg) & Register Pl in its entirety, provided that no more than one of the measures described in this section be enacted at any time; & (b) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle at any time on: (i) West Register St; & (ii) Register Pl, where prohibitions apply to both sides of the roads in their entirety unless otherwise stated. Existing restrictions will be suspended on the affected sections of roads described in (b). The following restrictions will be suspended: one-way on West Register St: (1) from Sth Saint Andrew St to Register Pl; & between the western kerbline of West Register Street (northmost north-south leg) and its jnct with Princes St; & (2) between Sth Saint Andrew St and the east extent of No. 1, to facilitate access/egress for business deliveries and waste service vehicles. The alternative routes for vehicular traffic are via: (i) St Andrew Sq (sth leg), St Andrew Sq (west leg), Nth Saint David St, Queen St, York Pl, Leith Walk, Picardy Pl, Leith Walk, Leith St & Princes St; or (ii) Princes St, Leith St, Leith Walk, York Pl, Queen St, Nth Saint David St, St Andrew Sq (nth leg) & St Andrew Sq (east leg).
The order shall have effect from 13/1/25 to 12/4/25.
