What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Various Roads, Mistley, and Wix)

(Restricted Roads, 30mph and 40mph Speed Limit) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under Sections 81, 82(1) & (2), 83(2), 84(1) (a) and (2) and Parts III and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

Effect of the Order

To Implement:

A “40mph Speed Limit” (Currently National Speed Limit)

Road:

B1035 Clacton Road, Mistley, Wix

Description:

From a point approximately 15 metres southeast of its junction with Horsley Cross Roundabout, and the A120, southeast for approximately 275 metres.

The Essex County Council (Tendring District) (Restricted Roads) (No.4) Order 2008 is hereby revoked insofar as it relates to the above length of road in the Parish of Mistley however, the restrictions contained within that Order for Mistley however, shall remain in force by virtue of this new Order. All other roads not mentioned above shall remain in force by virtue of the existing order.

A “Restricted Road” (30mph Speed Limit) (No.4) Order 2010 is hereby revoked insofar as it relates to the Parish of Mistley however, the restrictions contained within that Order for Mistley however, shall remain in force by virtue of this new Order. All other roads not mentioned above shall remain in force by virtue of the existing Order.

*The Essex County Council (B1035 Clacton Road & Steam Mill Road, Mistley/Bradfield) (40mph Speed Limit) Order 2014 is hereby revoked in its entirety, however, the restrictions contained within that Order shall remain in force by virtue of this new Order.

Second Part: “Bus Gate”

Road:

B1035 Clacton Road, Mistley, Wix

Description:

From a point approximately 61.5 metres southeast of the give way road markings on Horsley Cross Roundabout, southeast for approximately 12 metres.

To a point approximately 73.5 metres southeast of the give way road markings on Horsley Cross Roundabout, southeast for approximately 12 metres.

Date of Operation:

The Order will come into effect on 19 December 2024.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the Order

  1. To temporarily close that length of road in the District of Tendring as specified in the Schedule.
  2. A temporary “No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping” restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway on the above length of road, for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

The Essex County Council (Tendring District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019 will be temporarily amended to include the temporary “No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time” restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 20 December 2024, exact dates will be specified on One.network. The roads will be closed in phases of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signage placed on site.

Description:

From its junction with Main Road to its junction with Hall Lane a distance of approximately 370m.

Alternative Route

Main Road, High Street, Kingsway, Marine Parade, Fronks Road and vice versa.
