Washington Road - Temporary Road Closure
What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Washington Road) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.11) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 6th January 2025 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
WASHINGTON ROAD
Outside No. 21 to No.31 Washington Road.
B) TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE
WASHINGTON ROAD FOOTPATH at 113-131
In its entirety.
C) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate gas works.
D) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 6th January 2025 to 27th January 2025 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
E) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from Washington Road - Kingston Road - Stirling Street.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works on Washington Road. Pedestrians will be diverted from Washington Road - Hanway Road - Arnaud Close Footpath side of 40 and 48 leading to Hanway Road.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
