What is happening?

C172 GREENSIDE BANK TO HARBOTTLE THROPTON
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND SPEED RESTRICTION)
ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council have made an Order which will temporarily close the road shown below and will hereby temporarily restrict the speed of vehicular traffic on the road shown below in the County of Northumberland.
Road Closure:
A road closure will be in place which will prohibit the use by vehicular traffic on that section of the C172 Greenside Bank To Harbottle Thropton from outside the front of Lightpipe Hall heading in a south easterly direction for a length of 5700 metres in the County of Northumberland.
It is expected that the road will only be closed from the 13th January 2025 until the 14th February 2025 between the hours of 07:30 until 17:00 during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 13th July 2025.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the C172, B6341, C176, U4047, C172 and vice-versa
Speed Restriction: 60mph down to 40mph
A speed restriction will be in place which will restrict the speed of all vehicular traffic from 60mph down to 40mph on that section of the C172 Greenside Bank To Harbottle from outside the front of Lightpipe Hall heading in a south easterly direction for a length of 5700 metres.
It is expected that the speed restriction will be in place from the 13th January 2025 until the 14th February 2025 between the hours of 17:00 and 07:30 however the Order will remain in place until the 13th July 2025.
The Order is to be effective from the 13th January 2025 until the 13th July 2025.

The closure has been requested by Northumberland County Council to carry out civils to improve drainage infrastructure In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.
