What is happening?

CAMBRIDGESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

NOTICE is given that Cambridgeshire County Council has made an Order pursuant to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which:

Thompsons Lane, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-010

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Thompsons Lane, Cambridge as lies between Bridge Street and New Park Street.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Bridge Street – Jesus Lane – Park Street – New Park Street and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate electrical connections and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 9 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 8 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 9 January and 22 January 2025.

Cambridge Footpath 34, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE) ORDER 2025-013

Is to stop any pedestrian from proceeding along Cambridge Footpath 34, Cambridge as lies 10m either side of the footbridge.

The alternative route for pedestrians will be as signed.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate footbridge repairs and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 13 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 12 July 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 13 January and 2 February 2025.

York Street, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-014

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along York Street, Cambridge as lies between numbers 101 and 123.

The alternative route for vehicles is via York Street – Sleaford Street – Sturton Street – New Street and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telecommunications and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 13 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 12 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 09:00hrs and 17:00hrs 13 January to 15 January 2025.

Linton Bypass (A1307), Linton & A1307 Linton to Horseheath Bypass, Horseheath (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-017

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Linton Bypass (A1307), Linton & A1307 Linton to Horseheath Bypass, Horseheath as lies between Horseheath Road and Horseheath Lodge Estate.

The alternative route for vehicles is via A1307 – A11 – A14 – A134 – A1302 – A143 – A1017 – A1307 and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate carriageway maintenance and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 30 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 29 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out overnight between 20:00hrs and 06:00hrs 30 January to 2 February 2025.

Burgess Road, Waterbeach (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-018

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Burgess Road, Waterbeach as lies between Number 19 and Way Lane.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Rosemary Road – Way Lane and vice versa or via Pieces Terrace – Pieces Lane – Way Lane and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telecommunications and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 6 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 5 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 09:30hrs and 14:30hrs 6 January to 14 January 2025.

Worts Causeway, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-020

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Worts Causeway, Cambridge as lies between Alwyne Road and Lime Kiln Road.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Cherry Hinton Road – A1307 – Worts Causeway and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate sewer connection, bus gate installation and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 13 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 12 July 2026 whichever is the earlier.

It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 13 January and 8 February 2025.

High Ditch Road, Fen Ditton (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-024

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along High Ditch Road, Fen Ditton as lies between Newmarket Road and Low Fen Drove Way.

The alternative route for vehicles is via High Ditch Road, Fen Ditton – B1047 – A1303 and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate electrical duct installation and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 6 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 5 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 6 January and 17 February 2025.

Hauxton Road, Little Shelford (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-027

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Hauxton Road, Little Shelford as lies between numbers 4 and 9.

The alternative route for vehicles is via High Street – High Street, Hauxton – Church Road – A10 – B1368 – Whittlesford Road, Newton – Newton Road (C254), Whittlesford – Middlemoor Road – Shelford Road – Whittlesford Road, Little Shelford – High Street and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telecommunications and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 7 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 6 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 08:00hrs and 18:00hrs 7 January
to 9 January 2025.

Cambridge Footpath 81, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE) ORDER 2025-007

Is to stop any pedestrian from proceeding along Cambridge Footpath 81, Cambridge as lies between the A1303 and Jesus Green.

The alternative route for pedestrians will be as signed.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate structural repairs, refurbishment and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 13 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 12 July 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 13 January and 16 March 2025.

Fowlmere Road, Foxton (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-008

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Fowlmere Road, Foxton as lies between Chalk Hill and Green Lane.

The alternative route for vehicles is via High Street – Shepreth Road – A10 – Shepreth Road, Shepreth – Shepreth Road, Fowlmere – Long Lane – B1368 – Green Lane and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate overhead cabling and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 20 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 19 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 20 January and 6 February 2025.

Butt Lane, Milton (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-022

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Butt Lane, Milton as lies between Park and Ride and Recycling Centre.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Milton Road, Impington – Burgoynes Road – New Road – B1049 – A14 – A10 – Butt Lane, Milton and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate water connection and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 20 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 19 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 23:00hrs and 06:00hrs 20 January to 24 January 2025.

West Wratting Road, Balsham (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-036

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along West Wratting Road, Balsham as lies between Balsham Footpath 5 and West Wickham Road.

The alternative route for vehicles is via West Wickham Road – Balsham Road – High Street Southern Spur, West Wickham – High Street – Burton End – The Common, West Wratting – High Street – B1052 and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate carriageway maintenance and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 8 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 7 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 09:30hrs and 14:30hrs 8 January 2025.

Park Lane, Dry Drayton (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-038

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Park Lane, Dry Drayton as lies between White Cottage and Park Street.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Park Street (C193) – Madingley Road – Park Lane and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate sewer connection and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 1 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 30 June 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 1 January and 8 January 2025.

Peas Hill, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF WAITING) ORDER 2025-041

Is to stop any vehicle from parking/waiting along Peas Hill, Cambridge as lies between Church of St Edward King and Martyr and Bene’t Street.

During the period this order remains in force The City of Cambridge Area Z (Consolidation) Order 1991 (Amendment No. 6) Order 1992; Schedule 13 – Disabled Persons Parking Places, All that part of the west side of Peas Hill which is bounded on the west by so much of the edge of the carriageway of that highway as extends from a point 48 metres north of its junction with Bene’t Street for a distance of 18 metres in an northerly direction and which has a width throughout of 2 metres is hereby suspended. Replacement bays will be placed on the east side of Peas Hill.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate scaffolding and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 1 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 30 June 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 1 January 2025 and 1 January 2026.

Selwyn Gardens, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-042

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Selwyn Gardens, Cambridge as lies between number 28 and Breedon House.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate crane operation and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 9 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 8 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 9 January and 10 January 2025.

Hobart Road, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-045

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Hobart Road, Cambridge as lies between numbers 4 and 12.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Mill Road – Madras Road – Marmora Road and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate relay lead supply and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 15 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 14 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 15 January and 17 January 2025.

Church Lane and Station Road, Fulbourn (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-029

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Church Lane and Station Road, Fulbourn as lies between Queens College and number 19.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Station Road – Wilbraham Road – Wilbraham Road, Great Wilbraham – Station Road – Frog End – High Street (C232) – Mill Road – Valley Farm Road – A11 – Cambridge Road, Balsham – Balsham Road, Fulbourn – Home End – Dogget Lane – School Lane – High Street (C232) – Church Lane and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telecommunications and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 6 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 5 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 08:00hrs and 18:00hrs 6 January to 10 January 2025.

Trafalgar Road, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-031

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Trafalgar Road, Cambridge as lies between number 14 and Chesterton Road.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Chesterton Road – Victoria Avenue – Trafalgar Street and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate water disconnection and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 15 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 14 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 07:00hrs and 18:00hrs 15 January 2025.

Holland Street, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-033

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Holland Street, Cambridge as lies between New Chesterton Institute and Carlyle Road.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Holland Street – A1134 – Fisher Street – Carlyle Road and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate sewer repair and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 13 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 12 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 13 January and 24 January 2025.

Holben Close, Barton (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-034

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Holben Close, Barton as lies between number 9 and the A603.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telecommunications and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 13 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 12 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 08:00hrs and 18:00hrs 13 January and 17 January 2025.

St Johns Street, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) and (TEMPORARY REVOCATION OF ONE-WAY TRAFFIC ORDER) ORDER 2025-069

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along St Johns Street, Cambridge as lies between Bridge Street and All Saints Passage.

During the period this Order remains in force The City of Cambridge Area Z (Consolidation) Order 1991 as amended by The City of Cambridge Area Z (Consolidation) Order 1991 (Amendment No. 11) Order 1995, Schedule 6 – One Way Streets; Round Church Street – From west to east; Green Street – From east to west; Sidney Street (from its junction with Market Street to its junction with Jesus Lane) – From southeast to northwest; Trinity Street – From north to south is hereby suspended.

During the period this Order remains in force The City of Cambridge Area Z (Consolidation) Order 1991 as amended by The City of Cambridge Area Z (Consolidation) Order 1991 (Amendment No. 35) Order 2005; Schedule 6 – One Way Streets; Emmanuel Street – From northwest to southeast; St Andrews Street (between its junction with Emmanuel Street and Regent Street) – From north to south is hereby suspended.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Round Church Street – Park Street – Jesus Lane – Maids Causeway – A603 – Parkside – Parker Street – Emmanuel Street – St Andrews Street – Sidney Street – Green Street – Trinity Street.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate rising bollard installation and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 13 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 12 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 13 January and 24 January 2025.

Melbourn Bypass (A10), Melbourn & Melbourn Bypass, Meldreth (TEMPORARY 40MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2025-070

Is to impose a 40mph speed limit along Melbourn Bypass (A10), Melbourn & Melbourn Bypass, Meldreth as lies between West Overdowns and the A505.

The Order will be effective, for safety purposes, when signs are in place indicating the speed limit along the whole or any part of the above mentioned length of road whilst works are in progress or temporarily suspended.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate electrical ducting, cabling and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 6 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 5 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 6 January and 7 July 2025.

Elizabeth Way (A1134), Cambridge (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF BUS LANE) ORDER 2025-075

Will be to temporarily suspend the bus lane as lies between Brunswick House and The Eights Marina.

During the period this Order remains in force The City of Cambridge Area A (Consolidation) Order 1993 as amended by The City of Cambridge Area A (Consolidation) Order 1993 (Amendment No. 72) Order 1999; Schedule 21: Bus/Cycle Lane: Part 4 roads and parts of roads which any vehicle other than a pedal cycle or bur or taxi is prohibited at all times on all days, Elizabeth Way on the western side of the carriageway from a point 50 metres north of its junction with Newmarket Road northwards to its junction with Cutter Ferry Close is hereby suspended.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate drainage and associated works which are being carried out on or near the bus lane and it will come into operation on 20 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 19 July 2026 whichever is the earlier.

This Order shall be in force when the signs are in place at each end of the above section of road whilst works taking place on Elizabeth Way (A1134), Cambridge are in progress. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 09:30hrs and 15:30hrs 20 January to 23 January 2025.

Gwydir Street, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-076

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Gwydir Street, Cambridge as lies between number 157 and Mill Road.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Gwydir Street – Norfolk Street – St Matthews Street – A603 – Mill Road and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate electrical connection and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 20 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 19 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 20 January and 4 February 2025.

Bartlow Road, Castle Camps & Camps Road, Bartlow (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-078

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Bartlow Road, Castle Camps & Camps Road, Bartlow as lies between Bartlow Park and Main Street, Shudy Camps.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Main Street, Shudy Camps – New Road – Nosterfield End – Burton End, Haverhill – A1017 – A1307 – Dean Road,
Linton – Dean Road, Bartlow – Camps Road and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate water meter repair and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 2 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 1 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 2 January and 3 January 2025.

Tennis Court Road, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) & (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF CYCLE LANE) ORDER 2025-054

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Tennis Court Road, Cambridge
as lies between The Gurdon Institute and the A603.

During the period this Order remains in force The City of Cambridge Area A (Consolidation) Order 1993; Schedule 23 Cycle Lane: Part 2 mandatory with flow cycle lane, Tennis Court Road on its eastern side from its junction with Fitzwilliam Road to its junction with Lensfield Road is hereby suspended. The alternative route for vehicles is via Trumpington Street – Pembroke Street. The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate gas connection and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 20 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 19 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 20 January and 22 January 2025.

St Philips Road, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-055

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along St Philips Road, Cambridge as lies between Sedgewick Street and Catherine Street.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Catherine Street – Mill Road – Sedgewick Street.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate electrical link box replacement and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 8 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 7 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 8 January and 13 January 2025.

South Street, Comberton (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025-058

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along South Street, Comberton as lies between the B1046 and South Lane.

The alternative route for vehicles is via South Street – Royston Lane – Comberton Road, Little Eversden – A603 – B1046 and vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telecommunications and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 22 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 21 July 2026 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 09:30hrs and 16:00hrs 22 January to 23 January 2025.
