A303 TRUNK ROAD
(M3 JUNCTION 8 TO PARKHOUSE CROSS)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways has made an Order on the A303 Trunk Road in the County of Hampshire and the Unitary Authority of Wiltshire, under Sections 14(1)(a) and 14(1)(c) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on, or in the vicinity of, the road.
The effect of the Order is to authorise the overnight closure (in phases) of:
(a) both carriageways of the A303 between its junction with the M3 at Junction 8 and Parkhouse Cross (A338), and the slip and link roads leading to and from those carriageways;
(b) any side road at junction with the lengths of carriageway described in (a) above; and
(c) any lay-by or bus stop adjacent to the length of carriageway described in (a) above.
These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake maintenance and renewal work of a cyclical nature and A303 project works.
The duration and scope of each closure above will vary depending on the nature of the maintenance work being undertaken in each occasion. The programme of works will start on or after 2nd January 2025. The overnight closures will be in operation between 21:00 and 06:00 (maximum period).
Planned maintenance work will be scheduled to avoid disruption during known peak periods although essential maintenance may be necessary during these periods to prevent the need for emergency works. Please see National Highways website for specific details on any upcoming closures.
The Order will come into force on 2nd January 2025 and remain in force until 24th December 2025.
During the closures, traffic affected will be diverted using other junctions of the A303, or the M3, A34, A30, A33, A3057, A3093, A343, A342, A3026, A338 and B3084. The diversion in operation will vary according to the closure in force, and the diversion roads listed above are the agreed routes, but these may change depending on local conditions.
Access to and from premises accessible from, and only from, the lengths of carriageway to be closed will be permitted.
The temporary closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works periods.
