What is happening?

U6292 High Street, Newry

Notice is hereby given that the Department for Infrastructure
using its powers under Article 7 of the Road Traffic Regulation
(Northern Ireland) Order 1997 has temporarily prohibited the
use of the above named road to through traffic.
There will be a One Way closure from 109 High Street to
18 Castle rise.
This will be operational Continuous other from: Mon 06 Jan
2025 to: Mon 03 Feb 2025.
The closure is to facilitate work by Firmus Energy.
Reason for closure: Gas mains networks to be extended to
feed new housing development as per chapter 8
The anticipated delay will be Less than 5 minutes
An alternative route will be signed with traffic being
diverted via:
Diversion 1: U6292 HIGH STREET, C0333 BOAT STREET,
U6290 COURTNEY HILL, A0028 null, A0001 ABBEY WAY,
U6292 CHURCH STREET, U6292 WINDMILL ROAD,
U6290 BALLYHOLLAND ROAD
Notes: This is a one way closure allowing access from
Abbey Way as a lane closure would not be acceptable at
this location.
Gas mains network being extended via open cut works
which will require a continuous permit. Works along the
footway beside Castle street will be maintained from the
sites side so pedestrian access will not be impacted.
There is to be no restriction in lane width on Abbey Way to
facilitate unobstructed traffic progression
