Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Sections 32, 35 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, under the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers, has made the Wigan Borough (Off Street Parking Places) (Hindley Walk Car Park, Wigan) Order 2024, which will come into operation on 18th December 2024.

The effect of the Order will be to introduce 31 off street parking places on land adjacent to Hindley Walk, Wigan. This will provide public parking facilities to off-set parking currently unavailable due to ongoing development works. Charges for the car park will be as follows:

Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained therein on the ground:

(a)  that it is not within the powers of Sections 32, 35 or Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984; or the Traffic Management Act 2004, or

(b)  that any requirement of the said Section 32, 35, or of Part III of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or of any regulations made under the said Part III of Schedule 9 or of any requirement of the 2004 Act, has not been complied with, may within six weeks of 12th December 2024 make application for the purpose to the High Court.

(Temporary Closure) Order 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Standish No. 64 (part), and Wigan No. 36) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform, use of:

Wigan No. 36 from Point A at its junction with Gidlow Lane, as shown on the Order

Map at grid reference 357334 407609, to Point B at its junction with public bridleway Standish No. 64, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 357453 407827 for a distance of approximately 300 metres in a generally north easterly direction. Standish No. 64 from Point B at its junction with public bridleway Wigan No. 36, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 357453 407827, to Point C Gidlow Lane near to Gidlow Houses shown on the Order Map at grid reference 357095 408042 for a distance of approximately 460 metres in a generally north westerly direction. Alternative routes are available via the public rights of way and road networks and will be signposted on site.

These public bridleways will be closed for a period of three months commencing on 11th December 2024 to safeguard the public whilst surface improvements and drainage works are carried out.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Long Lane Hindley Green Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Long Lane Hindley Green Wigan during the period of 09:30 to 14:30 on 10/01/2025.

The alternative route for traffic is: Alder Lane, Green Lane and Crossdale Road.

The Order is necessary to allow a telegraph pole replacement.
