What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF SOUTH ROAD, BALDOCK) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of South Road, Baldock from its junction with Pembroke Road south westwards to its junction with Limekiln Lane, a distance of approximately 95m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via South Road, A507 Clothall Road, B656 Whitehorse Street, B197 High Street and South Road.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 15 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF MEADOW WAY, HITCHIN) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Meadow Way, Hitchin from its northernmost junction with Hawthorn Close north eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Hawthorn Close, Charlton Road, A602 Park Way, A505 Upper Tilehouse Street, Wratten Road West and Meadow Way.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 13 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE CYCLE TRACK/FOOTWAY SITUATED ON THE NORTH WEST SIDE OF A602 MONKSWOOD WAY AND THE SOUTH SIDE OF A602 SIX HILLS WAY, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedal cycles/pedestrians from using the cycle track/footway situated on the north west side of A602 Monkswood Way and the south side of A602 Six Hills Way, Stevenage from a point 250m north west of its junction with Elder Way north westwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 256m (“the Cycle Track/Footway”).
An alternative route will be via A602 Monkswood Way, A602 Six Hills Way and the subway situated beneath A602 Six Hills Way.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Cycle Track/Footway.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 13 January 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Cycle Track/Footway.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF STEVENAGE ROAD, REDCOATS GREEN/TITMORE GREEN) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Stevenage Road, Redcoats Green/Titmore Green from its junction with Blakemore End Road south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Lower Titmore Green, a distance of approximately 768m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via local diversions as indicated by signage.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 13 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF SOLLERSHOTT WEST, LETCHWORTH GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Sollershott West, Letchworth Garden City from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.20 Sollershott West south westwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Sollershott West, Broadway, A505 Hitchin Road, Highfield Road and Sollershott West.
The Order is needed because electrical service works are proposed to be executed near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 13 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A505 CAMBRIDGE ROAD, HITCHIN ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A505 Cambridge Road, Hitchin from its junction with Willian Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 100m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via:
- A505 (Cambridge Road/Baldock Road/Letchworth Gate), the A1(M), A602 (Wymondley Bypass/Stevenage Road/Park Way), and A505 (Old Park Road/Bedford Road/Fishponds Road/Bunyan Road/Nightingale Road/Cambridge Road)
or
- A505 (Cambridge Road/Nightingale Road/Bunyan Road/Fishponds Road/Bedford Road/Payne Park), A602 (Park Way/Stevenage Road/Wymondley Bypass), the A1(M), and A505 (Letchworth Gate/Baldock Road/Hitchin Road/Cambridge Road)
or
- A505 (Cambridge Road/Baldock Road/Letchworth Gate/Baldock Bypass), B197 (Jacks Hill/High Street/Graveley Road), A602 (Wymondley Bypass/Stevenage Road/Park Way), and A505 (Old Park Road/Bedford Road/Fishponds Road/Bunyan Road/Nightingale Road/Cambridge Road)
or

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 11 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON DACRE ROAD, HITCHIN) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of road (“the lengths of Road”) will be:
To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Dacre Road, Hitchin from a point in line with the northern boundary of No.26 Dacre Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 22m, except for access.
An alternative route will be via: Dacre Road, A505 Nightingale Road, Verulam Road, B656 Walsworth Road and Dacre Road.
The existing one way traffic system on Dacre Road, Hitchin from its junction with A505 Nightingale Road south eastwards to its junction with B656 Walsworth Road, a distance of approximately 241m will be temporarily suspended to enable all traffic to travel in both directions within this length of road, whilst works are in progress.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 15 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the lengths of Road.
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF B651 HORN HILL, WHITWELL) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B651 Horn Hill, Whitwell from its junction with Bradway south westwards to its junction with Hill Crest, a distance of approximately 55m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via:
- B651 (Horn Hill/High Street), Codicote Road, Whitwell Road, B656 High Street, Heath Lane, Kimpton Road, Kimpton Road (East) and B651 (High Street/Hitchin Road/Horn Hill).
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 13 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF NEWLANDS LANE, HITCHIN) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Newlands Lane, Hitchin from its junction with B656 London Road south westwards to its junction with Newlands Close East, a distance of approximately 115m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via: B656 London Road, Gosmore Road, and Newlands Lane.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 12 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN STEVENAGE AND LETCHWORTH GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:
- That length of Argyle Way, Stevenage from its junction with A1155 Fairlands Way south eastwards, north eastwards, clockwise and south westwards to its junction with A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, a distance of approximately 690m.

Alternative routes for the affected roads are as follows:
For Argyle Way, Stevenage:
- Via A1155 Fairlands Way, A602 Lytton Way, A1070 Six Hills Way, and A1072 Gunnels Wood Road
- Or via A1155 Fairlands Way and A1072 Gunnels Wood Road.
For Bessemer Drive, Stevenage (from A1072 Gunnels Wood Road south westwards to Chadwell Road):
- Distance: Approximately 395m
- Alternative route: Via A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, Six Hills Way, and Caxton Way.
For Green Lane, Letchworth Garden City (from Norton Way north to Works Road):
- Distance: Approximately 865m
- Alternative route: Via Works Road, Birds Hill, Norton Way, and Norton Road.
For Highfield/High Brow, Letchworth Garden City (from A505 Hitchin Road north westwards):
- Distance: Approximately 903m
- Alternative route: Via A505 (Hitchin Road/Baldock Road), Spring Road, Burnell Rise, High Avenue, and Hillbrow.
For Lytton Avenue, Letchworth Garden City (from South View north eastwards to Meadow Way):
- Distance: Approximately 243m
- Alternative route: Via South View, Sollershott East, A505 Baldock Road, Norton Way South, and Meadow Way.
For Pixmore Way, Letchworth Garden City (from A505 Baldock Road/A505 Letchworth Gate roundabout south westwards to Broadway):
- Distance: Approximately 1019m
- Alternative route: Via A505 (Baldock Road/Hitchin Road) and Broadway.
For Spring Road, Letchworth Garden City (from A505 Baldock Road north westwards to Broadway/Sollershott East roundabout):
- Distance: Approximately 269m
- Alternative route:
- Via A505 (Baldock Road/Hitchin Road) and Broadway.
- Or via A505 Baldock Road, Field Lane, and Sollershott East.
For Western Way, Letchworth Garden City (from Southern Way north westwards and north eastwards to Southfields roundabout):
- Distance: Approximately 384m.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 16 December 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.
