Clacton-on-Sea, Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Clearway Introductions

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Various Roads, District of Tendring)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway)

(No.22) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Tendring as specified in the Schedule.

2. A temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping' restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway on the above lengths of road, for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

"The Essex County Council (Tendring District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time" restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 19th December 2024, exact dates will be specified on One.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

Road: St Johns Road, Clacton on Sea

Description: From its junction with London Road roundabout to its junction with Hampstead Avenue a distance of approximately 490m

Alternative Route: St Johns Road (east/west) diversion): A1333, Bovills Way, St Osyth Road, Little Clacton Road, St Johns Road and vice versa

Road: Constable Avenue, Clacton on Sea

Description: From its junction with St Johns Road to its junction with Munnings Drive a distance of approximately 70m

Alternative Route: St Johns Road (east) diversion: A1333, Bovills Way, St Osyth Road, Little Clacton Road and Constable Avenue

St Johns Road (west) diversion: St Johns Road, Little Clacton Road, Constable Avenue

Description: From its junction with Bovills Roundabout to its junction with St John's Roundabout a distance of approximately 1800m

Alternative Route: A133; Colchester Road, Thorpe Road, High Street, Frinton Road, Holland Road, Kirby Road, Clacton Road, Frinton Road, Valley Road, St John's Road and vice versa

Brook Retail Park (from north): Britton Way, London Road, Progress Way and vice versa

Brook Retail Park (from south): Britton Way; London Road and vice versa

Road: Brook Retail Park, Clacton on Sea

Road: From its junction with A133 Little Clacton Bypass roundabout for a distance of approximately 60m in a north easterly direction to its junction with next Roundabout

Alternative Route: A133 (north) diversion: Britton Way, London Road, Progress Way and vice versa A133 (South) diversion: Britton Way, London Road and vice versa
