M3 MOTORWAY – JUNCTION 14 TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the M3 Motorway in the County of Hampshire, under Sections 14(1) (a) and (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because of the likelihood of danger to the public and to allow the safe conduct of mitigating works.
This forms an extension of Temporary Notice NH/2024/E940 (which it thereby replaces) as permitted by The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Procedure Regulations 1992 (a), Regulation 7.
The effect of the Order is to impose:
- a 24-hour 50 miles per hour speed restriction on the road connecting the southbound carriageway of the M3 to the westbound carriageway of the M27 at Junction 14 (M27 Junction 4) between points approximately 335 metres and 1470 metres south of the centreline of Leigh Road underbridge (A335); and
- a width restriction of 2.9 metres in lane 2 of the road connecting the southbound carriageway of the M3 to the westbound carriageway of the M27 at Junction 14 (M27 Junction 4) between points approximately 1000 metres and 1355 metres south of the centreline of Leigh Road underbridge (A335).
These measures are in the interests of road safety owing to serious parapet damage at M3 Junction 14 and works taking place to repair the damage.
It is expected that the provisions may remain in place for at least six weeks depending on the duration of the works starting on or after Monday 16th December.
The Order will come into force on the 16th December 2024 and will have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete and the danger resolved.
The temporary restrictions will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the danger period.
I Rosendaal, an Official of National Highways Limited.
