The Eastbourne Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2001 Notice of Variation of parking charges.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Eastbourne Borough Council in exercise of its powers under section 35C of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and in compliance with regulation 25 of the Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996 and under all other enabling powers, by notice intends to vary charges to be paid in connection with the use of the off-street Pay and Display parking places in all of the car parks named in the above order.
For those charges that are being changed, the existing and new amounts are set out below:
These new charges will come into effect at 00.01 on 3rd January 2025

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that Eastbourne Borough Council ("the Council") proposes to make the Orders named below under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which if they come into force will introduce changes to charging hours of parking place in various car parks as defined in the below order. The effects of the proposed Orders would be as follows:
Borough of Eastbourne (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2001 Amendment Order No 1, Order 2024
The order will amend the charging hours of parking place from 8am-6pm to 8am-8pm in DOWNLAND, BEACHY HEAD, SOVEREIGN PARK, FISHERMAN’S GREEN, REDOUBT, and PRINCES PARK car parks, and BEACHY HEAD coach park.
The order will amend the charging hours of parking place from 8am-6pm to 8am-10pm in DEVONSHIRE PARK, WISH TOWER, and HYDE GARDENS car parks.
A copy of this Notice, the proposed Order, and a statement of the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be seen online at
www.lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk/tro-proposals. These documents together with a copy of the existing Orders to be amended may also be examined at Eastbourne Town Hall, Grove Road, Eastbourne, BN21 4UG Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
All objections and other representations relating to the proposed Order must be made in writing and all objections must specify the grounds on which they are made and should be sent to Neighbourhood First, Town Hall, Grove Road, Eastbourne, BN21 4UG or by email to BPP@lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk (quoting the above reference) no later than 3 January 2025. The effects of the proposed Orders would be as follows:
Borough of Eastbourne (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2001 Amendment Order No 2, Order 2024
The order will insert a definition for electric vehicles, a definition for electric vehicle charging bays, a definition for electric vehicle charging point, a definition of motor vehicles.
The order would also specify the names of each parking place where the Electric Vehicle bays and charging points are provided, and the Position in which the vehicle may wait; Classes of vehicle; Days of operation of parking place; Hours of operation of parking place; Charging hours of parking place; Maximum period for which vehicles may wait; Scale of initial charges; Scale of penalty and excess charges
