M42 Motorway And The A4545 Trunk Road - Temporary Restriction of Traffic For Works

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - Sections 14(1)(A) And 122a 

The M42 Motorway And The A4545 Trunk Road (M42 Junction 5a) (Temporary Restriction Of Traffic) Order 2024 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) has made an Order on the M42 Motorway and A4545 Trunk Road, at Bickenhill, in the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, to enable traffic to safely use the new roads while further works are being carried out.

The effect of the Order will be to –

(1) impose a speed limit of 50 miles per hour on – (a) the exit slip road leading from the northbound carriageway of the M42, at Junction 5a;

(b) the entry slip road leading to the southbound carriageway of the M42, at Junction 5a;

(c) the dumbbell roundabout connecting the slip roads described in (a) and (b) above, with the A4545;

(d) the northbound and southbound carriageways of the A4545 between the dumbbell roundabout at M42 Junction 5A, and the roundabout junction with the A45 and Bickenhill Lane (Clock Interchange);

(e) the exit slip road leading from the southbound carriageway of the A4545, to the roundabout junction with the B4438 Catherine-de- Barnes Lane and St Peters Lane (Bickenhill Roundabout); and

(2) impose a speed limit of 40 miles per hour on the slip road leading to the northbound carriageway of the A4545 from the roundabout junction with the B4438 Catherine-de-Barnes Lane (Barber’s Coppice Roundabout).

The works are expected to continue for approximately one year. The Order will come into force on 14 December 2024 and have a maximum duration of 18 months.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority, ambulance and special forces purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions.
