WEST NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14

(PUBLIC FOOTPATH FB4 – PRESTON CAPES & PUBLIC FOOTPATH ET2 – FAWSELY)

(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that West Northamptonshire Council have made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along those lengths of Public Footpath FB4 in Preston Capes and Public Footpath ET2 in Fawsley as specified below. Private access to land or premises adjacent to the said lengths of footpaths are unaffected.

RIGHTS OF WAY TO WHICH RESTRICTION APPLIES: The length of Public Footpath FB4 to be closed commences off High Street, Preston Capes at point A on the Order Map at National Grid Reference (‘NGR’) SP5747 5518. The route then proceeds generally west of north for 323 metres to the parish boundary at point B at NGR SP5737 5549. The route then continues generally north-west as Public Footpath ET2 in the parish of Fawsley for 894 metres to terminate at the junction with Public Footpath ET3 at point C at NGR SP5679 5612. The route to be closed is shown on the order map by a solid black line between points A-B-C.

REASONS FOR RESTRICTION: The restriction is required in the interest of health and safety. A culvert has collapsed at the watercourse and there is no safe route across the stream.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: The Order will come into effect on 17th December 2024 and will continue in force for a period of six months. An application may be made for the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport for this Order to be extended if this proves necessary. However, the restriction specified will have effect only at such times and to such extent as is indicated by the display of notices.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: There are no suitable alternative routes.
