What is happening?

NORTH YORK MOORS NATIONAL PARK AUTHORITY (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS)

Public Footpath 15 High & Low Kilburn (Cleveland Way National Trail - Casten Dike, Sutton Bank) (NYC Path Ref:10.77/015)

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - Section 14(1) (as amended)

The North York Moors National Park Authority has made an Order, the effect of which is to make the following closure in the parish of High & Low Kilburn in the county of North Yorkshire:

Existing route of the Cleveland Way National Trail (part of)(A-B-C):

A part of the existing route will be temporarily diverted between Grid Reference SE 5233 8328 (Point A) to Grid Reference SE 5214 8293 (Point BJ to Grid Reference SE 5170 8258 (Point C).

Please note: No other access rights are affected between Points A & B. Public Footpath 15 High & Low Kilburn (B-C):

No pedestrian shall proceed along this footpath commencing at Grid Reference SE 5214 8293 (Point B) at the junction of the U1817 and the A170 public roads, heading in a generally south-westerly direction for 572 metres to a junction with the existing Cleveland Way National Trail path to the White Horse at Grid Reference SE 5170 8258 (Point C). A total distance of 572 metres.

Alternative Route of the Cleveland Way National Trail (A-D-E-F): Public Footpath 200 Cold Kirby (A-D-E):

Pedestrians can proceed along this footpath commencing at the junction with the access road to Hambleton House at Grid Reference SE 5233 8328 (Point A) and proceeding through Hotel Plantation in a generally westerly direction for 306 metres to a junction with the U8001 road at Grid Reference SE 5207 8318 (Point D). It then continues through Hambleton Plantation in a generally westerly and then southerly direction for 606 metres to a boardwalk across Cleave Dike at the junction with the C189 road at Grid Reference SE 5167 8309 (Point E). A total distance of 912 metres. E-F:

The alternative route then continues across the C189 road and into the grounds of Sutton Bank Visitor Centre to re-join the existing route of the Cleveland National Trail at Grid Reference SE 5155 8302 (Point F).

The Order is necessary due to allow for path repair works to be undertaken.

The closure takes effect from 2 December 2024 and will be put into effect by means of the erection of notices and signs.
