Quayside - Temporary Traffic Regulation Order For Quayside Celebration Event
What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (QUAYSIDE CELEBRATION EVENT) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and has received consent from the Secretary of State for Transport to make such an Order.
2. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all vehicles from proceeding on the following lengths of road -
a) Quayside - from its junction with Milk Market to its junction with Sandhill.
b) Low City Road - from its junction with Milk Market to its junction with City Road.
3. The alternative route for vehicles will be via the existing highway network.
4. The Order is required to facilitate the “Quayside Celebration Event” (“the Event”), to enable members of the public to watch the Event and to reduce the disruption to traffic likely to be caused by the Event. The Order is required to allow the Event to be carried out safely on or near the highway and to ensure the health and safety of the general public.
5. Exemptions will be provided for police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call and vehicles associated with the event.
6. The Order will come into operation on 31st December 2024 and will continue for a period of 1 day, as and when relevant traffic signs are displayed.
