A428, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire - Temporary Road Closures due to Maintenance Works

THE A428 TRUNK ROAD (ST NEOTS ROUNDABOUT, BEDFORDSHIRE TO BARFORD ROAD ROUNDABOUT, ST NEOTS, CAMBRIDGESHIRE) AND (CAMBOURNE INTERCHANGE TO GIRTON INTERCHANGE, CAMBRIDGESHIRE)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited(a) has made an Order on the A428 Trunk Road in the Counties of Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, to allow maintenance works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to take place commencing on or after Thursday 2 January 2025 and be completed by Sunday 21 December 2025.

The effect of the Order will be to:

(a) authorise the overnight closure (20.00–08.00) of the A428 at various locations between St Neots Roundabout, Bedfordshire and Barford Road Roundabout, Cambridgeshire; and between Cambourne Interchange and Girton Interchange, Cambridgeshire;

(b) authorise the closure of:

(i) all slip roads leading to and from the above length of the A428;

(ii) the laybys on the above lengths of the A428;

(iii) the gaps in the central reservation on the above length of the A428.

During the closures traffic will be diverted via junctions of the A428 and local roads.

The duration of each closure will vary depending on the nature of the maintenance work being undertaken on each occasion.

The closures (which will not apply to emergency services, traffic officer, works or winter maintenance vehicles), and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

The Order will come into force on 27 December 2024 and have a maximum duration of 18 months.
