Banbury Area - Changes to Speed Limits
What is happening?
OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(BANBURY AREA) (SPEED LIMITS) (NO.2) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that on 9 December 2024 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The order which comes into force on 13 December introduces a 20mph speed limit throughout Banbury town, replacing the majority of the 30mph speed limit in the process, but excluding the following:
1. The M40 motorway,
2. roads currently subject to the ‘National Speed Limit’, i.e. 60mph on single-carriageway, and 70mph on dual-carriageway roads,
3. roads currently not adopted by the Highway Authority, and
4. specific lengths of road around the town which will retain their 30mph, 40mph or 50mph speed limits unchanged.
The proposals incorporate/extend the 20mph speed already limits in place within the Bretch Hill area, and on the A422 Stratford Road.
The Oxfordshire County Council (Banbury Area) (Speed Limits – No.3) Order 2022 is revoked/replaced.
