Aikton and Bowness-on-Solway, Cumbria - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL

(C2051 AND U2013 NEAR AIKTON AND C2042 BOWNESS-ON-SOLWAY

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along the following sections of road:

  1. C2051 near Aikton, from its junction with the U2009, to its junction with the U2013; and
  2. U2013 near Aikton, from its junction with the C2051, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 500m.

    Alternative Routes: via the U2009 Gamblesby and Biglands, U2010 and the unrestricted section of the U2013; or via the unrestricted section of the U2013, U2016, U2019 and C1051.

    Duration: From 6 January 2025 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROCI/2930).

  3. C2042 Bowness-on-Solway, from its junction with the U2002, extending in an overall southerly direction for approx. 4.7km.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the C2042, C2043 Anthorn and U2002.

    Duration: From 20 January 2025 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROCI/2969).

The Order will come into operation on 6 January 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
