Dalton In Furness, Temporary Traffic Regulation Order For Phased Utility Works
What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL
(ROMNEY PARK, SKELGATE, MARKET PLACE & ABBEY ROAD, DALTON IN FURNESS) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the Romney Park, Skelgate, Market Place and Abbey Road, Dalton in Furness from the junction with the Askam Road, extending in an overall south easterly direction for approx. 965 metres.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via Askam Road, A590, C6011 Park Road and the unrestricted section of Abbey Road.
These works will be carried out under phased works and Cadent Gas will ensure that local residents and the general public are informed of which roads are to be closed and when, nearer the time.

The Order will come into operation on 2nd January 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 14 weeks and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
