What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN SOPWELL LANE, ST ALBANS) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Sopwell Lane, St Albans from its junction with A5183 Holywell Hill south eastwards for a distance of approximately 38m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via A5183 Holywell Hill, London Road, Old London Road and Sopwell Lane.
ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 6 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF MARQUIS LANE, HARPENDEN) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Marquis Lane, Harpenden from its junction with B652 Station Road north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Crabtree Lane, a distance of approximately 392m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via B652 Station Road, Langdale Avenue and Crabtree Lane.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 6 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF MEADWAY, COLNEY HEATH) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Meadway, Colney Heath from a point in line with the western boundary of No.43 Meadway north eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Meadway, Tollgate Road, Roestock Lane and Meadway.
The Order is needed because water service connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 7 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF OLD LONDON ROAD, ST ALBANS) ORDER NO.2 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Old London Road, St Albans from its junction with Watsons Walk south eastwards for a distance of approximately 39m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Watsons Walk, A1081 London Road and Old London Road.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 6 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF MOUNT PLEASANT LANE, BRICKET WOOD) ORDER NO.3 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Mount Pleasant Lane, Bricket Wood from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.86 Mount Pleasant Lane north westwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Mount Pleasant Lane, A405 (St Albans Road/North Orbital Road), Lye Lane, West Riding and Mount Pleasant Lane.
The Order is needed because electrical service connection works are proposed to be executed near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 3 January 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN KINSBOURNE GREEN, WHEATHAMPSTEAD, HARPENDEN, BATFORD, RADLETT, REDBOURN AND BRICKET WOOD) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):
Annables Lane, Kinsbourne Green
From its junction with Watery Lane south eastwards, south westwards, south eastwards, and north eastwards to its junction with Kinsbourne Green Lane, a distance of approximately 1445m.
- Alternative route: Via Coles Lane, Kennel Lane, and Kinsbourne Green Lane.
Beech Hyde Lane, Wheathampstead
From its junction with Marford Road south westwards, south eastwards, southwards, and south eastwards to its junction with Coleman Green, a distance of approximately 1536m.
- Alternative route: Via Marford Road, B651 (The Hill/Wheathampstead Road), Drovers Lane, Coleman Green Lane, and Coleman Green.
Bower Heath Lane, Harpenden
From its junction with B652 Bower Heath Lane north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Common Lane, a distance of approximately 780m.
- Alternative route: Via B652 (Bower Heath Lane/Kimpton Road) and Common Lane.
Common Lane, Batford
From its junction with Sauncey Wood Lane north westwards, north eastwards, north westwards, and north eastwards to its junction with Bower Heath, a distance of approximately 1006m.
- Alternative route: Via Sauncey Wood Lane, Holly Lane, and Common Lane.
Dyke Lane, Wheathampstead
From its junction with Hill Dyke Road south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with B651 Wheathampstead Road, a distance of approximately 1330m.
- Alternative route: Via Hill Dyke Road and B651 Wheathampstead Road.
Loom Lane, Radlett
From its junction with A5183 Watling Street south westwards, north westwards, and south westwards to its junction with New Road, a distance of approximately 1277m.
- Alternative route: Via A5183 Watling Street, B462 (Aldenham Road/Watford Road) and New Road or via New Road, B462 Watford Road, Park Road, and A5183 Watling Street.
Lybury Lane, Redbourn
From its junction with Delmer End Lane south eastwards to its junctions with The Common, a distance of approximately 2706m.
Mackerye End, Harpenden
From its junction with The Slype south westwards, south eastwards, south westwards, and south eastwards to its junction with Mackerye End Lane, a distance of approximately 1197m.
- Alternative route: Via The Slype, Marshalls Heath Lane, and Mackerye End.
Sauncey Wood Lane, Wheathampstead
From its junction with Common Lane north eastwards, south eastwards, and north eastwards to its junction with Holly Lane, a distance of approximately 1028m.
- Alternative route: Via Common Lane and Holly Lane.
Smug Oak Lane, Bricket Wood
From its junction with A5183 Radlett Road south westwards, north westwards, south westwards, and north westwards to its junction with Station Road, a distance of approximately 1955m.
- Alternative route: Via A5183 (Radlett Road/Frogmore/Park Street), Park Street Lane, and Station Road.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 12 December 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN OAKDENE WAY, ST ALBANS) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Oakdene Way, St Albans from its junction with Ashley Road north eastwards for its entire length (“the Road”), except for access.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
ADDITIONALLY, all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 9 December 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Grange Street, St Albans from its junction with Bernard Street south eastwards for a distance of approximately 25m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Grange Street, Dalton Way, A4147 Catherine Street, A1081 St Peters Street, and Grange Street or via Grange Street, Church Street, and Bernard Street.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 10 December 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Beesonend Lane, Redbourn from a point 182m south west of its junction with Burywick south westwards for a distance of approximately 60m (“the Road”), except for access.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because utility service connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Drovers Way, St Albans from its junction with A4147 Catherine Street south westwards to its junction with Russell Avenue, a distance of approximately 278m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via A4147 Catherine Street, A1081 (St Peters Street/Chequer Street), A5183 (High Street/Verulam Road), Britton Way, Selby Avenue, Upton Avenue and Russell Avenue or Russell Avenue, Britton Avenue, A5183 (Verulam Road/High Street), A1081 (Chequer Street/St Peters Street), and A4147 Catherine Street.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 9 December 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF WHEATHAMPSTEAD PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO.027) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using Wheathampstead Public Footpath No.027 from its junction with High Ash Road north eastwards to its junction with Butterfield Road, a distance of approximately 89m (“the Public Footpath”).
An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the north side of High Ash Road, the footway situated on the south east side of Amwell Lane, the footway situated on the south east side of Brewhouse Hill, and the footway situated on the south side of Butterfield Road.
The Order is needed because cabling works are proposed to be executed on or near the Public Footpath.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 11 December 2024 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Public Footpath.
