SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL

Various Roads in the Borough of Epsom and Ewell

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.4) 2024

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 of the Act, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads described in the Schedule to this Notice. This Order is required to facilitate gas mains replacement works for, or on behalf of, SGN. For parts: (a, b, c, and d), these works are anticipated to be carried out in 4 phases, between the hours of 8am and 4pm; and for parts (e, f, and g), these works are anticipated to be carried out in 2 phases, between the hours of 8am and 5pm, within a 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 20 January 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access for emergency services will be maintained via road plates, if required. Due to the nature of the works, residents will be required to follow the diversion route. The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
