Canterbury, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

 

CANTERBURY AREA

 

Grove Ferry Hill, Upstreet. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024

To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grove Ferry Hill, Upstreet, from 16th December 2024, with estimated completion by 17th December 2024, between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Fundy, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic (excluding vehicles over 7.5 tonnes) is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, Stourmouth Road, Preston Road, The Street, Plucks Gutter, Gore Street, A253 Ramsgate Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road, Grove Ferry Hill and vice versa.

The alternative route for vehicles over 7.5 tonnes is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, The Street, Preston Lane, Preston Road, Preston Hill, A257 Goberry Hill, Roman Road, Pedding Hill, Ash Bypass, Sandwich Road, Each End, A256 Sandwich Bypass, Ramsgate Road, Richborough Way, A299 Hengist Way, Canterbury Road West, A253 Canterbury Road and A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Shalloak Road, Broad Oak, CT2 0PR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024

To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Shalloak Road, Broad Oak, from 17th December 2024, with estimated completion by 18th December 2024, between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of TPS Canterbury, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Shalloak Road, Sweechgate, A291 Herne Bay Road, Sturry Hill, A28 Mill Road, Sturry Road, Vauxhall Road, Shalloak Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Shalmsford Street, Chartham, CT4 7QT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024

To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Shalmsford Street, Chartham, from 16th December 2024, for up to one day, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 141, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Shalmsford Street, A28 Ashford Road, Milton Manor Road, Cockering Road, The Crescent and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Upper Grounds, Chislet, CT3 4LX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2024

To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Upper Grounds, Chislet, from 16th December 2024, with estimated completion by 20th December 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Highstead Riding Centre, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
