Cumberland, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Bridge Repair Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (B5299 MEALSGATE TO FLETCHERTOWN) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable bridge repair works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the B5299 Mealsgate to Fletchertown, from a point adjacent to the property known as 'Skiddaw View', extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 170m.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the B5299, Brayton Road, A596 Aspatria, B5301 Arkleby A595, Bothel.

The Order will come into operation on 13 January 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required from 13 January 2025 to 2 March 2025, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
