Cockermouth, Temporary Traffic Regulation Due To Utility Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U2388 SKINNER STREET, B5292 LORTON ROAD AND VICTORIA ROAD) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to:
1. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the U2388 Skinner Street, Cockermouth, from its junction with Victoria Road, extending in a southerly direction for approx. 30m.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of Skinner Street, Lorton Road, and Victoria Road.
2. Prohibit any vehicle from waiting at any time, on any day and/or from loading and unloading, at any time, on any day (including blue badge holders) along the following sections of road:
a) B5292 Victoria Road, Cockermouth, (south east side) from a point 10 metres south west of its junction with Skinner Street, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 20m; and
b) B5292 Lorton Road, Cockermouth, (south west side) from a point 20 metres south east of its junction with Victoria Road, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 30m.

The Order will come into operation on 6 January 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 2 days between 0930 and 1530 hours, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
