What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN HANDSIDE LANE, WELWYN GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Handside Lane, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Applecroft Road north eastwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 40m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Handside Lane, Lemsford Lane, B195 Valley Road, Youngs Rise and Handside Lane or via Handside Lane, Lemsford Lane, B195 Valley Road and Applecroft Road or via Lemsford Lane, A6129 Stanborough Road, Parkway and Barleycroft Road.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 6 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN NEWGATE STREET, EPPING GREEN, LITTLE BERKHAMSTED, WELWYN, OAKHILLS, CODICOTE AND KIMPTON) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), as specified:

  1. That length of Newgate Street, Newgate Street/Epping Green area from its junction with Newgate Street Village north westwards to its junction with Robins Nest Hill, a distance of approximately 2042m.

    An alternative route will be via Newgate Street Village, Newgate Street, Darnicle Hill, Hammondstreet Road, Dig Dag Hill, Longfield Lane, Flamstead End Road, B156 (Flamstead End Road/Churchgate Road/Goffs Lane/Cuffley Hill/Station Road), B157 (Gough Hill/East Ridgeway/The Ridgeway/Shepherds Way), A1000 Great North Road, B158 (Kentish Lane/Cum Cum Hill/High Road/ Essendon Hill/Lower Hatfield Road) and Robins Nest Hill.

  2. That length of Fulling Mill Lane, Welwyn/Oakhills/Welwyn/Codicote and Kimpton Road (East), Kimpton from its junction with Fulling Mill Lane north westwards, south westwards, north westwards, south westwards, north westwards and south westwards to its junction with B691 Ballslough Hill, a distance of approximately 6166m.

    An alternative route will be via Fulling Mill Lane, B656 (Links Road/Church Street), A1000 Welwyn Bypass Road, B197 (Welwyn Bypass Road/Digswell Hill/Great North Road), B653 (Brocket Road/Marford Road/Cory Wright Way/ Codicote Road) and B651 (Lamer Lane, Kimpton Road/Ballslough Hill).

  3. That length of Fulling Mill Lane, Welwyn from its junction with the B656 Codicote Road/ B656 Link Road roundabout north westwards to its junction with Kimpton Road (East), a distance of approximately 227m.

    An alternative route will be via Fulling Mill Lane, B656 (Links Road/Church Street), A1000 Welwyn Bypass Road, B197 (Welwyn Bypass Road/Digswell Hill/Great North Road), B653 (Brocket Road/Marford Road/Cory Wright Way/ Codicote Road), B651 Lamer Lane, Kimpton Road, B651 Ballslough Hill, Kimpton Road (East) and Kimpton Road.

The Orders are needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Orders are made, they shall come into force on 6 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

Documents related to the proposals may be inspected free of charge at County Hall, Hertford between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm (excluding weekends, bank and public holidays).

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE FOOTPATH SITUATED BETWEEN NO.39 AND NO.44 SKIMPANS CLOSE, HATFIELD) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the footpath situated between No.39 and No.44 Skimpans Close, Hatfield from its junction with Booths Close south eastwards to its junction with Skimpans Close, a distance of approximately 39m (“the Footpath”).

An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the south side of Booths Close, the footway situated on the east side of Holloways Lane, the footway situated on the north side of Bulls Lane and the footway situated on the west side of Skimpans Close.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Footpath.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 1 January 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Footpath.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF KIMPTON ROAD, WELWYN/CODICOTE) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Kimpton Road, Welwyn/Codicote from its junction with St Albans Road north westwards to its junction with Heath Lane, a distance of approximately 1380m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via St Albans Road, B656 High Street, Whitwell Road, The Grove and Heath Lane.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON VARIOUS ROADS IN WELWYN GARDEN CITY) ORDER NO.2 2024

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) will be:

  1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads:

    a) that length of Corners, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Windhill north westwards, north eastwards and clockwise for its entire length.

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

    b) that length of Windhill, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Broomhills south westwards to its junction with Daniells, a distance of approximately 85m.

    An alternative route will be via Broomhills, Strawfields and Daniells.

    c) that length of Strawfields, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Broomhills south westwards to its junction with Daniells, a distance of approximately 79m.

    An alternative route will be via Broomhills, Windhill and Daniells.

  2. The existing one-way traffic system on Longlands Road, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Mill Green Road north eastwards to its junction with Ludwick Way, a distance of approximately 305m will be temporarily suspended to enable all vehicles to travel in both directions within this length of road, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 5 December 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF LEMSFORD ROAD, HATFIELD) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Lemsford Road, Hatfield from its junction with Stockbreach Road south eastwards to its junction with The Common, a distance of approximately 125m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Lemsford Road, B197 Welwynfield Road, B6426 Queensway and Lemsford Road.

The Order is needed because carriageway remedial works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 6 December 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY 30MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS ON B197 MARLEY HILL, OAKLANDS AND B197 LONDON ROAD, WOOLMER GREEN/KNEBWORTH) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from being driven at a speed exceeding 30mph on the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), when signs are in place:

  • That length of B197 Marley Hill, Oaklands from its junction with Marlborough Close north eastwards to its junction with Marley Dell, a distance of approximately 362m.

  • That length of B197 London Road, Woolmer Green/Knebworth from its junction with White Cross Drive north westwards to its junction with Gun Meadow Avenue, a distance of approximately 561m.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 9 December 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF FELLOWES LANE, HATFIELD) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Fellowes Lane, Hatfield from its junction with Bullens Green Lane north westwards for a distance of approximately 20m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Bullens Green Lane, Roestock Lane, Tollgate Road and Fellowes Lane.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 9 December 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF OLD HERTFORD ROAD AND SCHOOL LANE, HATFIELD) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):

  1. That length of Old Hertford Road, Hatfield from its junction with A1000 Great North Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 487m.

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  2. That length of School Lane, Hatfield from its junction with B6426 St Albans Road East north eastwards to its junction with Endymion Road, a distance of approximately 140m.

    An alternative route will be via B6426 St Albans Road East, Beaconsfield Road and Endymion Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 9 December 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:

  1. That length of A1001 South Way, Hatfield from its junction with the A1001 Roehyde Way/A1(M) (junction 2) roundabout north eastwards to its junction with The Travels Lane roundabout, a distance of approximately 1087m.

    An alternative route will be via A1001 (Roehyde Way/Comet Way), A414 (Great North Road/Hertford Road), A1000 (Hertford Road/Great North Road) and A1001 South Way or via A1001 South Way, A1000 (Great North Road/ Hertford Road), A414 (Hertford Road/Mount Pleasant Lane/Great North Road) and A1001 (Comet Way/Roehyde Way).

  2. That length of B158 Cum Hill, Brookmans Park from its junction with B158 High Road south westwards to its junction with B158 Kentish Lane, a distance of approximately 1025m.

    An alternative route will be via B158 (High Road/Essendon Hill/Low Road), B1455 Holwell Lane, A414 Hertford Road, A1000 (Hertford Road/Great North Road) and B158 Kentish Lane.

  3. That length of B158 High Road, Essendon from its junction with B158 Essendon Hill south eastwards, southwards, south westwards, southwards and south eastwards to its junction with Cucumber Lane, a distance of approximately 1318m.

    An alternative route will be via B158 (Essendon Hill/Low Road), B1455 Holwell Lane, A414 Hertford Road, A1000 (Hertford Road/Great North Road) and B158 (Kentish Lane/Cum Cum Hill).

  4. That length of B158 Kentish Lane, Brookmans Park from its junction with B158 Cum Cum Hill south westwards, southwards and south westwards to its junction with A1000 Great North Road, a distance of approximately 2626m.

    An alternative route will be via B158 (Cum Cum Hill/High Road/Essendon Hill/ Low Road), B1455 Holwell Lane, A414 Hertford Road and A1000 (Hertford Road/Great North Road).

  5. That length of B158 Low Road, Essendon from its junction with B1455 Holwell Lane south westwards to its junction with B158 Essendon Hill, a distance of approximately 1475m.

    An alternative route will be via B1455 Holwell Lane, A414 Hertford Road, A1000 (Hertford Road/Great North Road) and B158 (Kentish Lane/ Essendon Hill/Low Road/Essendon Hill). a distance of approximately 209m.

An alternative route will be via B1455 Holwell Lane, A414 Hertford Road, A1000 (Hertford Road/Great North Road) and B158 (Kentish Lane/Cum Curn Hill/High Road/Essendon Hill).

  • That length of B6426 Cavendish Way, Hatfield from its junction with Bishop Rise north eastwards to its junction with Woods Avenue, a distance of approximately 611m.

    An alternative route will be via B6426 Cavendish Way, A1001 Comet Way, B197 Wellfield Road and B6426 (Queensway/Cavendish Way).

  • That length of B158 Essendon Hill, Essendon from its junction with B158 Low Road south westwards, south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with B158 High Road, a distance of approximately 600m.

    An alternative route will be via B158 Low Road, B1455 Holwell Lane, A414 Hertford Road, A1000 (Hertford Road/Great North Road) and B158 (Kentish Lane/Cum Cum Hill/High Road).

  • The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

    The Order has been made and shall come into force on 9 December 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.
